December's Children(and everybody's) just arrived in the mail.I had long worn out my album as it was the first album I ever bought and needless to say played it umpteen times every day. There are really great songs on this album such as Get Off Of My Cloud,As Tears Go By,Blue Turns To Grey plus some fabulous covers and 2 live cuts that are just electrifying: Hank Snow's "I'm Movin' On" and Bobby Troupes *Route 66".I must go now and play it about 10 times in a row.

Me too, I got the re-release 'Some Girls: Deluxe Edition' a while back http://www.amazon.com/Some-Girls-Edition-Rolling-Stones/dp/B005N95JA4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1333401372&sr=8-1

The Stones have started releasing live shows from the vault on Google Music for only $4.99 http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&frm=1&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CEIQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fmusic.google.com%2F&ei=eRh6T8vxOKbr0gGbmrm_DQ&usg=AFQjCNFRgmMQGrqlhemgRN7r_MpZReuG5w

What always struck me about December's Children was the rawness and cleaness of it with no studio over production and few-if any-overdubs.The whole album is like sitting the studio while they're recording it.Brian's slide work on it is just phenomenal.Of course he excelled in everthing that he picked up to play.

"French girls want Cartier, Italian girls want cars...American girls want everything in the world you can possibly imagine!
When asked why they called the album "Some Girls", Keef answered, "Cuz we forgot all their &$@! names!"

I've never been one to learn other people's tunes that much, but the simplicity of "When The Whip Comes Down", "Just My Imagination" and "Respectable" made that album a fun source of cover tunes.

Not my favorite Stones album, though; that would be one of the "big five" between 1968 and 1972...it depends on the day as to which one of those was my fav.

Sticky Fingers and Goats Head Soup are the only Stones albums that I liked after Brian left/died. Dancin' With Mr. D, Star-Star and Silver Train are brilliant songs but after that album they didn't put out anything that could come close to them IMHO. Wild Horses is not only the best song on Sticky Fingers but is every bit the classic that As Tears Go By was.

BTW: Johnny Winter did an absolutely dynamite cover of Silver Train on Don Kirshner's Rock Concert aroung 1974,he even gave the Stones a run for their money.
