Basically, had an idea, and it got warped into an improv, considering I probably couldn't make a whole song out of this. Also, I can't wait until the shitlockers open up on me for butchering my own first solo. Everything is off the top of my head, came to me as soon as I woke up. Happy Sunday all.

Liked when you went into the single note thing, it had an arabic, middle eastern type sound like you get from the harmonic minor scale. Keep that idea in mind, it's the germ of a song or idea for the future. :)

Thanks, a friend of mine said it was a midway between jazz and blues. And I don't know any scales, so doing this was a shot in the dark.

I think it has potential in the metal realm.
That half-step progression with rhythm doing power chords and a driving bass line and drummer leading the way with strict triplets... man, that thing will drive!

cool stuff! 8)

Thanks dude! Just needs some gain :!: I'm good friends with a metal drummer, who is also a tragic irony, considering his parents bought him an $800 Mapex (with discount, mind you) and Pearl Eliminators, which were $300 I think he said, and they don't want him drumming while they're home. Did I mention they're retired?

Also, this summer I might get a keyboard with many different drum settings. The people who gave me all of the amps and stuff last summer said they might have one in their basement somewhere and if I was interested and I could find it, I could have it. They said their son used it for recording his own beats, and for live stuff, so I'm kinda psyched.

Sounds OK Buxom, and from 025 to 043 it has kind of a middle eastern quality to it. Keep working on it and send it out again later. 8)

Thanks, D. It'l be hard to recreate, because I don't have it written down. it was just kind of a feeling that came right after I woke up.

Thats a great practice exercise. Just play it back to yourself and work on that middle eastern thing, it's cool. 8)

Yeah, a bit of the Phrygian scale in there somewhere maybe.
If you can't reproduce it though, what's the point?
Anyway, enjoy your youth.

I use FL Studio (software). You might want to look into something like that... about $100. You can download a demo version for free. It works well for composing your own material.
Drums, bass, and the little acoustic strum on this track were done using FL Studio. The rest was recorded live on a Zoom R-16. The mix is rough, but you'll get the idea of potential.

The keyboard is free, so long as I find it :P

i saw that in your last post... i wouldn't expect miracles from an electronic keyboard. I guess it'll work very nicely, as long as you're not real fussy about sound quality.
If it's just something you're playing along-side of that's more fun than a metronome, more power to ya!
I did the same thing for years... same thing - free keyboard with a cheesy, built-in rhythm machine. Made a big difference in improving my timing though.
I'd post a different recording, but I'd be too embarrassed
