Hi, I'm known as SWRBassman (those of you who also frequent Colesgazette, Whistlestopper, and 4Forums.com; you know who I am).
I've been an amateur bassist for some 25 years. I started on a cheap Gibson short scale copy my Freshman year in High school.

Around late September of 1983, I got my first real bass. a 1979 Fender Precision Bass in the rare Antigua Sunburst finish with a Rosewood fretboard. I had that axe for 19 years. In addition, I owned a late 60s-early 70s P-Bass I had converted to fretless, a '99 Mex Jazz Fretless, and two Ibanez basses: a Soundgear SR-400 and a BTB450QM, which I'm currently playing, and a 1941 Kay upright.

As to my amps over the years, I started with a Peavey TNT 130, a Fender Bassman 100 (which I loved, but those darn side handles made portability an issue at the time) an Ashdown Five-Fifteen, and I currently use an SWR Working Pro 400 with an Ashdown 2X10 cab.

My styles?? Mostly jazz, CCM, classic R&B, classic Rock. My influences over the years have been my Bass teacher, Greg Pointek; Verdine White, Tom "T-Bone" Wolk, Steve Rodby (Pat Metheny Group), and more recently, Ross Valory of Journey.

Hello SWRBassman,

Do you have a pick-up in the '41 Kay?
or mic it?

Welcome.

Cheers.

Unfortunately, I sold off the Kay recently, but when I hadf it, I used a K&K Big Twin Transducer. I plan on getting another upright, or an EUB in the next few years.
