Does anybody have a list of Fender reds from lightest to darkest? Fender has made many different shades of red, and some of them look very similar to me.

Under the support tab above there is a color chart for current colors.

Here is the red page
http://www.fender.com/support/colorchar ... d&color=10

You'll have to wait for someone else more knowledgeable to chime in if you want to know more about discontinued shades of red.

Those Fender charts aren't very accurate.

And what I was looking for was a list of red colors in order from lightest to darkest.

Hi bugo: I've never heard of such a thing.

Which means this is your opportunity to do the research and put that resource together for us. The color chart on this website is far from comprehensive. It would be a service to your fellow Fenderites to assemble a more complete, user-friendly one.

Go to! 8)

Cheers - C

.... and please include the difference of colors on Urethane vs. Nitro together with aging processes over the years.

Piece of cake.

Cheers

According to an old brochure that I found online, my Squier is Torino Red. The color code is "TRD" (No toilet jokes, please.) I assume that means Torino Red.

Here is a scan of the brochure:

There's a fine line between 'red' and 'cherry'. :?

You can tell for sure by checking your guitar's serial number with Fender.

Cheers

Fender doesn't have records for '80s import guitars, much less Squiers. And I've sent them serials before and they only showed the available colors, not the one for the individual guitar.

Bugo, Are Squier colors the same? I am not very well versed in Squier colors. You might try the Squier forum for that.

Anyway I have a bunch of Fender color charts referenced on my bass site. Some charts I host some others host.

Go to the page in my signature below. Click the link for INSTRUMENT HISTORIC DATA and then scroll down to VINTAGE GUITAR COLORS.

As has been pointed out, the colors are only as accurate as the scanner or the camera used in all cases.

Anyway, it is quite a color chart link collection and a good resource. The charts can at least help you narrow it down to two or three colors.

I think Squier colors are the same, or at least they were in the '80s. An exception is the "Daphne Blue" Bullet that is really Surf Green.

EC Red = darker variant of Torino Red. A new finish specially created to match Eric Clapton's Ferrari SPC12.
