Hi folks, how have things been?I hope that you've been all keeping well.It appears that the coast is clear for me to come back on so here I am.

While I was away I got 2 new pedals-a Way Huge Green Rhino and the TECH21 RotoChoir that I've been GASsing over for the past couple of months.
Even though I had bought a Danelectro Cool Cat Transparent Overdrive a week before, on a trip to my usual musical haunts Reid Music in Mt. Pearl NF,last Saturday I bought the Green Rhino, first because I had read so many rave reviews of it and second it was on sale for only $60 and that nearly floored me.I got the pedal home and right out of the box with no twiddling of the controls I got the real Dire Straits Sultans of Swing sound from my Jimmie Vaughn Strat through my Blues Jr.With a bit more twiddling I got a deadly sound when I tried Spanish Castle Magic,it was just massive sounding next I did Manic Depression and a few more of Jimi's heavier songs and they just roared out of the amp I've tried many overdrive pedals and the Danelectro was impressive enough but the Green Rhino is by far way way better than anything that I've ever heard,it's just unbelieveable. The store manager told me that guys are selling their Ibanez TS-9s and buying the Green Rhinos and I can see why as the TS-9 just stands in its shadow.

The TECH21 RotoChoir is like having a monster old Leslie 960 in a little box and that is definitely not hyperbole. This pedal is truly just like the real thing,it ramps up and slows down gradually just like the big cabinet does. You have simulated rotary horns on top and a simulated rotating drum on bottom. The beauty of this pedal is that you can have both spinning in unison or one on fast and the other on slow to create the dreamy "Chorale" sound when you run a B-3 through an old 960.I played Little Wing,Angel and Hey Baby(New Rising Sun) from Rainbow Bridge and it was simply mind blowing it was like being in Elsectric Lady studios this thing just nailed the effect.Another amazing trait of this unit is that you can dial any amount of that beautiful "growl" that you'd get only from a B-3 being overdriven through a Leslie.I can't wait to get my music room straightened up enough to get the RotoChoir hooked up to my organ, that should be deadly all together. I have always been gushing about the wonderful "Leslie" effect in my Vox AD 120 VTH but this unit just blows it out of the water.

I'm glad you're back Derek. From what you said, I know that remicade is a long term treatment, but do you see any positive changes already? And no pics, no pedals.

Congrats Derek, the pedals descriptions are exciting. As Claude made the reference, I second with a "pic's please" and, if possible, an audio demonstration of both pedals. 8)

First off, welcome back, hope the treatments are working out for ya. Now secondly, I've been checking out the RotoChoir and was wondering how it compairs to the Boss RT-20, if you have ever checked one of those out?

+1 on all comments...I'm very glad to see you back, hope the treatment is working, and would like to know how the Rotochoir compares to the RT-20 (I have the RT-20 and like it very much)...

Will you be able to post a sound sample?

Welcome back Derek...it's good to hear you're in a happy space. So a couple questions....how much was the Roto-choir if you don't mind me asking, and is there someplace ( like a web site) where I can hear a sound clip of the puppy? Like everyone else who plays guitar and has ever listened late 60's rock it's that life long quest to find the perfect Leslie simulator .....sounds like you're on the right track ( or is it the left track) ...anyway glad to see you back in the mix

Thanks for the kindly welcome and kind words guys.First lets get my health or more correctly lack thereof out of the way.My hands right now are at the worst they've ever been and it's even painful to drive. The day I got the Remicade treatment my hands were great and I was able to play for about a half hour and they remained a bit better for a couple of days after. For several days such as the day I got the RotoChoir I was able to play for a couple of minutes at a time after taking short breaks. The doctors were surprised that I felt a difference after the first treatment, albeit a short one and said that this was a good sign that I'd respond favourably.Hopefully after a couple of more treatments my hands will be showing some improvement but it's going to be a long hard road to get back to where I was with my playing before my hands got bunged up but I'm prepared to practice over 10 hours a day like I did as a teenager if I have to in order to get my playing back to a level that I'm satisfied with.I hope that when I have some semblence of a playing style back,I'll try to post demos of the pedals.

The RotoChoir cost $260 Cdn plus tax but I see it advertised at MF and GC etc. for about $220.You can check out the demos here : http://www.tech21nyc.com I haven't heard the Boss pedal although I've read great reviews about it,but the RotoChoir sounded and performed so much like a real Leslie that I honestly couldn't imagine anything sounding more realistic without being a true Leslie.I will be giving it a real good going over once the old mitts get into some semblence of a decent playing condition.I imagine that both pedals would sound deadly together but haven't tried it yet as the drive control on it gives you the dirty growl that an overdriven B-3 does through a Leslie when cranked to full tilt boogie.
