i don't know to many people like that at my school..... most people don't even really try, but i'm from a small school.... and let me say this, guitar does not help you get girls... from my experience anyways.... just ignore them and realize the fact you can play and they might not be able to

ya, i generally find if people give you crap aabout how they're great at guitar, or they can play guitar hero, just ask them to play you a song or two on guitar and then show them what you can do

Having just gotten out of high school, I guess I can relate to what you're saying. I hate that such a thing as guitar and music can be taken up just like any other fad. People are free to do what they want, but it's a shame to see someone pick up a guitar for all the wrong reasons, knowing that they're going to give it up a week or two later. No one seems to take serious players seriously when everyone and their brother's uncle's cousin's cat "plays guitar" too.

i know people from my school that gloat because they can play guitar hero. It makes me so mad. They think they can get the girls because of it. I said to one of 'em "how can you gloat about a game, can you even play a real guitar?" the guy said "real guitars are for losers" oh he shouldn't have said that. what an idiot.

Gone are the days when girls were impressed by guys who played guitar. Now they could care less. Being able to play guitar is no longer an impressive thing. It seems like everybody and their brother plays guitar now.

Playing guitar is about as rare as driving an SUV. It's no big deal no more. I remember back when I was in school, it wasn't if you could play, it was if you were any good.

These days, if you want to impress somebody with a guitar, you better be able to play, not just own one.

I feel the same way. I think that guitar hero game has basically turned everyone that knows how to play video games into a "rockstar." Gone are the days when real musicians are respected. a 5 button video game controller shaped like a guitar DOES NOT replace true talent and a good musical instrument!

I think that it's cool that people play guitar and I thought that before i got my guitar. But at my school only 3 guys in my grade play guitar. I'm the only girl that does.

You should play guitar because your soul screams for it, not for any other reason. Because if it is for any other reason then you are most definately not cool.

The important thing is playing for yourself. If people who dig the genre your playing, they'll appreciate your sound. If you worry about what people think then you will just get frustrated and lose the drive to pursue guitar greatness.
But back to the topic...those people don't deserve guitars. I've see it up at college all the time. Everyone has a freakin' guitar and they aren't even that into it. Oh well...they can just make me look better by comparison...so I'll let them be.
