Everything about that page suggests Eric plans to use the car at home in Britain. Which means he spent £3m/$4.75m on a custom built Ferrari - and didn't have them put the steering wheel on the right side. C'mon, Eric! Think it through, man!

Love the colour, by the way. Will we soon see an EC CS Strat in that finish? Yum. Even I might shell out for that.

Cheers - C

Everyone should have one! Ideal for the vast width of London's streets and the scarcity of other vehicles. Also highly recommended for going down to the offy to buy a pint of milk.

Basically Eric is stocking up for the next big auction, at which that car will probably sell for double the price he bought it at. What's good for charity is good by me. Way to go EC!

Pathetic it really is. I need say no more. What's next? Clapton becoming a Top Gear presenter?

$4.7M for a car, that is disgusting. It almost makes me want to vomit it's so bad.

if i had the money, id do the same thing. i sometimes think 10 grand for a guitar is pretty ridiculous, each to their own. a guitar is just wood and electrics. a car is just metal and electrics. and before somebody starts bleating on about the 'soul' and 'personality' of a loved guitar, which i totally understand, the exact same thing happens with a car, if you're a car lover.

anyways, also whoever said the steering wheel is on the wrong side for the UK....err no its not :D

This reminds me of what Forrest Gump's mamma says " a man only needs so much money, they rest is for showing off".

Hope he doesn't roll this one.
Makes me cring watching it moved around the shop and all the traffic on the street.
Now why hasn't he moved up to a nice classy Austin Martin? Ferrari's are a little too tarty for an older gentleman, at his age he would should more from the teenagers to something just a little bit more mature, but with the same great performance.

That reminds me of a story. I used to work with Shaun White, the pro snowboarder. He told me how he had just bought a very special Maserati and had it at his house. Well, he took it out for a spin and got three houses down before totaling it by smashing into his neighbor's tree.

He called the Maserati dealer to let them know what happened and when he told them what model it was, the guy on the other line said: "What? There's only five of those in the world!"

To which Shaun replied: "There's only four now..."

very good, and for what its worth

He paid his dues, to learn to sing the blues
When he first was a star
Never thought he could fall far
But there was no bottom to that jar
And no end to the black tar
So he bought himself a car
But didn’t go far
Not quite to the bar
Oh, oh, oh, didn’t make it to the bar

I believe EC will specify one of his latest Custom Shop axes having a paintjob to match the SPC12. Surely a slightly darker variant of Torino Red.

Come on guys...why are some of you hating on the man for buying a Ferrari for $3/4M? I got news for you, if I win the Mega Lottery's $500M this week, I am going to ask Chevrolet to build me a one off Corvette! You going to hate me for spending my money? Get real, Clapton has earned the right to do this...don't hate the player, hate the game and stop being jealous!

Chromeface, I kind of thought the color was just bit of a darker Candy Apple Red?

I love Ferrari's, I love the color, I love Clapton, but I see no purpose in a car like that. To each his own, and EC has earned it. I just don't see why anyone would want it. I hope the one poster is right, that this is just an investment towards a big charity auction item in the near future.

Torino Red was originally called Ferrari Red. Clapton had a similar car in the mid-1980s and wanted one of the three signature prototypes built for him having a custom paintjob to match it. The other two were finished in anthracite (Pewter Grey) and received each a 22-fret neck in 1988, one of which became 7-up green (Candy Apple Green) for a short time in 1989 before being Black in 1990.

The Torino Red Strat was later given as a gift to cricketer Ian Botham.
