Blues_boy ......... it's GREAT that you care about something or someone that means a lot to you . Keep it up !!! But................. have you heard "Hendrix in the West" ???? Jimi's playing is so melodic and he's singing with emotion and feeling !!!! Not to mention on this album is also a mind blowing version of " Red House" and " Voodoo Chile" which has one of the all time great string bends in rock - check it out if you haven't !! :)

I love Jimi Hendrix and SRV's Little Wing. I like SRV's tone better though. Fender amps > Marshall amps for clean tone.

Those that don't know…go to school. Jimi's original version can't be touched, but Stevie came damn close. But you can't compare styles. Jimi had his soul and Stevie added his, with made his version unique. John…a good attempt.

John's is more contemporary, and is a good attempt, BUT, I don't like it near as much as Hendrix's OR Stevie Ray's.

I heard Clapton's version and it was great; as was Jimmi's and SRV's as well.
I saw EC in Seattle at the Key Arena March 10 2007; he played it there too. During that song and through most of the rest of the concert the playing was so sublime I was in tears.
Same thing happened at the 2004 crossraods concert in Dallas too.
Guess I'm just an' ole' softy.

Clapton's version is underrated. He's a remarkable musician and he gets unbelievable tone out of his Strat and '57 twin. Just based on that, I know the Vintage Noiseless pickups he uses, in the EC Strat with the right amp, are awesome. Unlike the SCNs, they've got Alnico magnets for a more vintage sound. You Tube has a bunch of great Clapton videos including a duel with Sanborne on sax that's interesting. The first time I saw it I just wanted Sanborne to pipe down but it grows on you.
