I turn to my fellow players and guitar lovers because oddly, the Jackson forum is silent as a tomb. does anyone here happen to know about Jackson Kelly guitars. especially any that may lack a serial number. I only cross topic because I am due to meet a Craigslist seller in the morning and he said he couldn't find a serial # anywhere. I am trading a MIM Strat for it and am not up on the Jackson's as I once was. Here is the pic from the listing. Since Fender bought Jackson I figured someone did some research. Thanks!!!

Theres a few clues here

Lack of binding, probably not a KE1
Pale rosewood board as opposed to ebony tells me points to it being eastern.
Get some info on them pickups. If their Duncan it's a KE3 or something in that price range. More than likely one of the excellent Japanese guitars. If their Duncan designed it's something more along the KX range. Still a very good guitar, every bit as good as a Fender Mexico.

The serial numbers on the KX/KK/KE3 guitars were on a sticker on the back of the neck. Most get taken off.

Yes the Jackson forums are very stale. Fortunately, there's a way more active and informative Jackson forum http://www.jcfonline.com

And here's a thread of that said forum that tells everything you need to know about Asian Jacksons. http://www.jcfonline.com/threads/101353 ... Origin-FAQ

Thanks, I picked up the guitar today. I am really impressed. From what I've found it's a KE3 model. They have a single volume and no tone knob. Chrome hardware suggests it is pre 2006 or 07. The fret board is wider than I'm used to but the neck is thin. Thanks again.

Nice couple you have there! Love the sharkies. Jacksons are cool, that's why me and my son have one!
