I believe I remember Mr. Chet saying he is enjoying Blackstar amps. Online reviews also seem quite positive. Take it as you will. :)

Howdy!

Along with Chet, I too am a very happy Blackstar owner.

I posted a thread shortly after purchasing my HT-5R Half Stack.

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=58633

I can't comment on the HT-60 other than I sat next to one when I went to Andertons (UK) to try my amp before I bought it. The demo room was literally full to the ceiling with just about every Blackstar model out there but was so blown away by the HT-5R that I never gave them a second look!

I'm still in awe of the outrageous about of savagery that the gain channel provides. Its proper Hairy Stuff! :D

One thing you won't see on the Blackstar Site is that every Amp is made with 100% win.

Enjoy!

Andy

The other guitarist in a ska band I was in for a while had the AC30 clone, The Atrisan. Nice enough but very hard sounding. The HT5 has it in my opinion. Great sound, great build, great size.

Don't be put off by the small wattage. They can still push a 4x12 enough to sound awesome.

I have an HT5R combo, it is fantastic. Can't vouch for their other models, but the internet and magazines say that they are all brilliant. They have a lot of great features-different connections-to PC, mp3 line in, that sort of thing, that is rarer on a valve amp, and also the controls-ISF, for example, is a great feature that really affects your sound.

I have seen Gus G. playing a tiny HT1R combo through a cabinet, and he was positively amazed, in Gus G. fashion. It sounds very similar in quality to the larger combos, but you also have the option of being able to practice at lower volumes.

I have been playing through a Blackstar HT Stage 60 (the 2x12) for the past 18 months or so and it's a belting amp. The range of sounds is really impresive, from sparkly cleans to real saturation, should you need it. I play in a classic rock band and it knocks spots off our other guitarist's Marshall TSL, if I do say so myself.

I use it with my Custom Deluxe Strat, Tele USA Deluxe and Jaguar HH Blacktop and it's very loud, very articulate and very touch-sensitive, all as a good valve amp should be. I place my effects in the loop - mainly chorus, flanger, delay and a little boost - and they work very well indeed. The on-board digital reverb is excellent, too.

The only thing to watch is that the stock valves (TADs) have made a bit of a name for themselves as being unreliable, which is a shame. I had no problems with mine over the first 12 months but changed the preamp and power valves for JJs to be on the safe side, and they really improved the sound. Warmer and creamier, if you know what I mean.

The downside? It's bl**dy heavy, so I've fitted castors to mine (the mounting plates are already fitted to the bottom of the amp - you just screw 'em in).

All in all, brilliant amp, brilliant value for money. You might not agree, of course, but I think you will :-)

Ditto!! When I shop I check weight on this gear. Bloody need a 'roadie' for a lot of it, and we're not talking Mesa or PRS price ranges either.

thanx everyone. what i like about the ht-60 is the 3rd channel. the 2 channel 40 watter was impressive but i really want the 2x12. overkill? probably. but that is the one i want. it sucks that i live between dallas and fort worth and noone stocks these amps.
again, thank you all.
