I like the strat body. It's comfortable and looks so nice. But I love the Gibson neck. When it comes to sound they both sound amazing in their own way. But I give the edge to the strat in versatility.

Oh yeah fat strats are cool. Super strats are even cooler.

I'm another one on here who has both, and love both brands.

Lately, I've been getting very much into Telecasters. I only have a couple of copies for now, but I can't believe how much I've missed out on over the years by not considering one sooner.

I had to choose neither for the poll though. There are so many great guitar companies out there, I couldn't possibly narrow it down to just one best.

For our next album in the works right now, I have this lineup ready for the recording:

Fender Strat Plus Deluxe- Lace red/silver/blue
Gibson Les Paul Studio- Burstbuckers
Schecter Tempest Custom- EMG 81/85
Hamer Strat copy- Gibson 498t/ Dimarzio Tone Zone w/Alnico-2 mod
Photogenic/Hamer Tele partscaster- Fender Hot Alnico 3s
DeArmond M-70- DeArmond Gold Tones
Squier Esprit Masterbuilt- Seymour Duncan Phat Cat P90s

Seriously, I could never choose between these. They will all do their part where I feel they need to be. I'm so happy to be able to work with such a great sound canvass. It's taken a while to assemble, but very much worth it to me.

When I play live, it's a different story. The Schecter and Hamer get more play than the others. There's even another Hamer/Squier partscaster (Strat) with SD PATBs that I use a lot as well.

Interestingly, if you read that particular list, 5 of the 7 have some sort of ties to Fender. They're just very comfortable to me.

I don't know, what's better an apple or an orange?

I see some interesting changes in the 2012 Gibson Les Paul Standard (at least from what I see in the new American Musical Supply catalog). The controls are all push/pull switched pots offering more complicated pickup options: out of phase, direct out, etc. That's kind of a nice touch (and the prices seem to be about $100 lower too).

I voted both. I own both a LP and a Strat and I think both are tops for what they bring. The LP for its classic style,it's warm humbuckers, the feel of the neck and it,s solid playability. The Strat for it's lightweight and comfortable build. The speed and ease of play and the chimey, icepick ring of it's single coils. They are both wonderful instruments and I am proud to own each.
