Let's have some threads that aren't about behavior on this Forum.

Couple of days ago The Missus and I were waiting for a Sting gig to start (I know I know, but we're that generation so...) and we were chatting to the nice American pair next to us about who's left that we haven't seen but would like to. Several names came up and top of the list was Paul Simon.

So happens Paul is currently touring his Graceland Revisited show, including so I'm told some of the original players. Sales opened at 9.00 this morning for an outdoor gig at London's Hard Rock Calling festival in the park in July, and by 9.02 we had a fistful of tickets for us and a few friends.

Never seen him live: hoping for a good one.

So. Who haven't you seen yet and are itching to?

Cheers - C

I've never seen the band, Toto, and now will never see the
original lineup, but would still like to see them (as is).

Steve Lukather is on the 'Ringo AllStarr Tour' for 2012, so not sure if
he will even have time for any Toto shows.

Well B.B. King is comming to town in May.
Unfortunately tickets are mostly sold out already, not sure there will be another chance to see him.

Would like to go see David Gilmour if he ever comes to town.

The Queen.

Thats about it. And then only to receive my Order of the British Empire, for outstanding patience with idiot builders.

Otherwise She can wait.

Other than that, I can't think of anyone that I haven't seen already. Maybe The Ramones, again, if someone could resurrect 3/4s of em.

Funny you should say that Ceri, Paul Simon is top of my list too! Always loved his songwriting style, was tempted to try to get tickets to the hyde park show myself, only just started a new job though and should be more worried about making sure i can pay the rent in a few weeks!

Another one would be the great zz top.

Apart from that i think ive been lucky enough to see most of my heroes.....except for Nick Drake, but i think even if i had been around at the time i wouldnt have stood much of a chance of seeing the shy fella live

Hee-hee - you've had that list waiting in your top pocket, haven't you? :D

Van the Man is a good one I hadn't thought of.

I did have the amazing pleasure of stumbling across a club somewhere in downtown Boston in the early '90s where JJ Cale was playing that very night. Didn't imagine I'd get in and just showed up on the off-chance - and found myself standing right in front of the middle of the stage with the man himself not five feet in front of me. And he was great! One of my top five all-time gig experiences. 8)

Ah-ha: Mrs C always wins this kinda competition because she really did see Hendrix back in the day. He was on a long mixed bill behind Engelbert Humperdinck and the Walker Brothers. Them's was the days!

All good suggestions, people. Keep 'em coming!

Cheers - C

+1

He lives (some of the time) in my town so I hope to see him play sometime soon. Also at the top end of my list to see are Soundgarden since they re-formed.

I saw Dweezil Zappa in December. Freak'in awesome gig!

Must make time to check out Apocalypse Babys.

Cheers!

Andy

Andy, you're guest-list when we're down your way.

Only because we'll likely need a place to doss down after a skinful and that cat looks cuddly. Still you're more than welcome to witness the Debauchery, Buffoonery, Misanthropy Roadshow when it comes to town (now with a new/old slightly psychotic drummer). If only to shake your head and wonder "How do these fools remember to breathe?".

Though in your exact town there is always Peter and the Test Tube Babies.

"the Break"

When I was a boy, I used to form Supergroups in my head.
My favourite drummer was the highly skilled Rob Hirst of Midnight Oil. The one and only reason I bought a Bass guitar was was my admiration of the work of Brian Ritchie from the Violent Femmes.
The chances of a Sydney pub rocker and an eclectic busker from Milwaukee playing together were remote .......but guess what.
Brian has now become an Australian resident and joined forces with three ex-members of Midnight Oil to form the instrumental surf band "the Break"
The rhythm section alone should be worth the price of admission. 8)

Tom Petty has been a big missing name in my "seen" list for many a year as he doesn't come to my part of the world all that often. This however this will be remedied in June when I will get to see him twice (that's right kids, twice!). He will be playing the O2 in Dublin and then a week later is headlining the Isle of Wight festival on the friday night.

Talk about two buses coming at once.....

As a ten-time veteran of the Boyzz, I would say they are definitely worth the time, energy and money to see...

...and plus one to David Gilmour, or Roger Waters for that matter; I've never seen either and wish I had.

I would like to see Chuck Berry, but then again I don't want to. The last few reports I heard were horrible, and I would like to remember him from his records and the "Hail, Hail Rock & Roll" film...

Add to the list The Mighty Zor...I've seen all the individual members in their other groups, but never that particular lineup. (Chris Layton, Tommy Shannon, Doyle Bramhall II, Malford Milligan)...

...and The Black Keys.
