I am a member of many different forums from hunting and fishing to harmonica and guitar.I love this forum in particular because for the longest time everyone here has been able to act respectful to one another without the need of moderators .Well.....all the other forums I am a member of have moderators to take care of people who cannot abide by the forum rules.I know Brad is extremely busy but perhaps it may be a good idea to have a couple people step up and offer to be moderators. It might certainly be what the forum needs right now to weed out the garden so to say.I may be outta line and nobody wants moderation within the forum or they think that its a bad idea.If that is the case than disregard this post and continue on.It seems like about the time the mustang amps came out and everyone started registering was when we started to get alot of problems here so to say.I am simply throwing this out there and wondering how the rest of you feel about the situation at hand and the members that choose to bail cause of a lack of moderation on here.Brad...please don't take this personally. We all know you are busy and don't have time to go through all the posts and play babysitter. You do a great job and I thank you personally.Maybe something like a warning the first time you overstep boundries. 2nd time a week off or so and third time BANNED... Don't let the door hit you in the $@! on the way out. What do you all think before the forum loses all its coolest and informative members. We have a wealth of knowledge here and it would really be a bummer if more choose to go because of a couple knuckleheads.Once again...my .02

For so long, this site was an exception to the usual internet forums in terms of lack of intelligence, civility, etc. Evidently, it no longer is. I've seen so many esteemed, long time members' posts dwindle down to none or next to it. In their places, hoards of inane drivel have taken over where I continually ask myself, "Why do I bother any more?" Granted, intelligent posts do crop up sporadically but from what I perceive, these people are somewhat of a 'one shot, hit and run' variety where they get whatever it is they need to know and are forever gone. I can only presume this is largely due to some of the other (recent) stuff they read here while awaiting their singular purpose to (hopefully) be fulfilled.

Is this some moderator's fault? No! It is virtually impossible for any person to be a 24/7 omniscient referee or reduced to its lowest terms, a babysitter. I would presume that such a role would be completely unrealistic even to a corporate sensibility.

I am aware of and grateful to, FMIC for trying to do something nice for us Fender enthusiasts where granted, it does have a self-serving purpose too. Yet, the old saying, "No good deed goes unpunished" surely applies.

I would be remiss if I didn't state that I sincerely do miss the old days and most of the old time members/posters. Truly, it was a great ride. To you all, I wish you the very best of everything.

In conclusion, I shall take my leave as well. To the cretins whom I'm sure are taking delight in all this, I say, yea, I'm a fool, baby, poser, etc. and I'll make quite sure the door doesn't hit me in my crying $@! on the way out. Live it up, this is your place now!

Don't be daft Martian, 'tis only a passing phase! :-)

Good to see Mr hopkins on here again. Haven't seen you posting on here for a while - how are things? :)

Cheers all. Stay calm and happy.

One of the good threads, this one - but I am really sad about Martian leaving ! Great loss! I want to thank you for being a polite man with a huge knowledge-base , and always willing to share .
Thank You, Sir!
I've been a member of this forum for a couple of years now , but just lately started posting. Earlier I just browsed it occasionally, as I did not have enough time for it all.... But I have learned to love it , and it has worried me to see how much mindless bullshit is served here lately. But I intend to stay , and I am truly sad about the most experienced members like Guitslinger and Martian leaving here. So I understand your decision ,guys - best wishes....
BUt i am also very happy with the spirit of people like the Nutter
Keep up w. the good threads and insight, Nutter !

But who will protect us from the evil "Infallible Web Dogma Crew"...

Martian, you have helped me and so many forum users over the years. I'd go as far to say that your one of the reasons I became an active member here (yep, your to blame for that one!). Your concise, informative and friendly replies to my very first post on the forums really set the tone here.

I really hope you'll stick it out for a bit longer as I have a feeling the Forum is about to get interesting again... Big Hairy wheels are now in motion...

I dig!

Andy

Wow. Martian, if you read this, PLEASE don't do that. Please?

To you and the many other fabulous, fascinating, informed, informative and also just downright fun members of this Forum (you all know very well who you are - yes, you!), who after all outnumber the goofs by a long way: this place is unique in my experience in allowing all of us to share wonderful company that we'd never have the opportunity to meet otherwise.

That's special, and something that has only come along in the last handful of our Earth years, so perhaps we're still learning a bit how to do it. I know it's been said so many times before, but if we concentrate on contributing to the fun, friendly and helpful threads and don't post on the silly ones then the silly ones go away and the good sort stay on the front page.

I'm so glad of the great company I'm permitted to keep round here. Please consider carrying on...?

Them's my feelings - C

Martian, please don't leave. Your threads and posts always make this Forum better and brighter, as always, my favorite of your personal touches which, because of you, I have used many times, IMHO YMMV.

Martian...I realize you gotta do what you gotta do, but count me in with the bunch that doesn't want to see a long time poster go :( You will be missed, and maybe after a bit of time, you will have your batteries recharged and tune back in to the forum. We are keeping our fingers crossed for your return.

Dammit Martian. We gotta have you. You are not expendable. Sorry, you can't go. :)

In general, I don't understand the problem. If I see a post by someone I find uninteresting or whatever, I just don't go there. So I never know what some cretin or the other has said and therefore I am totally unperturbed. I have no curiosity to check out the latest dumb thing someone has written. Unless it's mine.

I hope this all goes away. I thought the lull was because everybody had learned all they needed to know. I know me and supro and arjay have. :D

Cheers.

+1!

I thought I had a pretty good grasp of guitar pickups and wiring configurations.

But Martian......you've forgotten more about that stuff than I'll ever know!

You better stick around, kiddo.
