You seem to be missing the point. Nobody is saying you are going to be arrested. What I am saying is that our host has the right to define how they would like us to behave when we visit.

And the etymology of "comrade" is actually from the Romance languages, and predates communism by hundreds of years. http://www.etymonline.com/index.php?term=comrade

I never said, and I know that I can't be arrested for free speech. That's the comrades who disagree my speech chimmin' in.

Alls I'm sayin' is, I'm within the policies and it's unfair to stifle and censor free speech that has a direct bearing on Fender and everything else music!

There's lots of threads about stuff. If you like one of those threads, read it, if not don't. If not, please don't ask to or lock the thread.

For example, we can discuss War Pigs, a song, and how it relates to Fender and all things musics and we'll end up going into religion and politics and current events.

...where does the censorship stop? I think it shouldn't stop at threads like The Illusion of Choice, the Christmas Tragedy, and a thread on the song War Pigs. Do you agree?

Again, different strokes for different folks! Not everybody wants to talk about a strat every time they visit Fender and find it helpful and fun and interesting discussing...politics, religion, etc. with their/our peers.

I recall Toppscore didn't actually break any rules but he got punted just the same ... mostly because he was generally considered to be grievously annoying to the majority. I'm not trying to start a debate about his being punted. I'm simply saying that there are some behaviors being exhibited on this board that are much closer to that ragged edge of "against the rules" than Toppscore exhibited. It might be in the best interest of some of these people to perhaps reign it in a few notches and just be thankful rather than pushing it even harder out of spite.

Just a friendly reminder of what can happen when push turns to shove.

I don't agree with the current, politically-correct assertion that one should not discuss Politics.

I believe that debate is healthy and helps prevent the type of polarization we seem to be experiencing today. A one size (or one of two sizes) fits all mentality is a dangerous one for the Nation.

Having said that, people must approach political discussions with a level of maturity which accepts that everyone's opinions are correct - the Constitution guarantees this.

Whether it should be the subject of a thread on this Forum, I'm afraid I don't possess the Wisdom to say where such a line should be drawn. But for the most part I think there are other Forums which are better venues for it.

But, as has been stated, it is very difficult to separate Politics from the rest of Life, even Guitars and playing. Politics are bound to intrude from time-to-time.

Let's just hope that when that occurs, everyone uses discretion in order to make everyone's visits here a pleasurable experience.

cheers!

My fellow members of the VFW address each other as comrade. RCB, quit trying to make trouble. Thunder, you put political discussion in lots of posts, liking it if it fits your view. Right wingers are like ole Shep. They can dish it out, but they can't take it. IMHO YMMV OU812

Politics and religion have no place in friendly conversation.

I respect your point of view though I disagree. My only question to you is this (and don't think it couldn't happen), in the event that armed intruders broke into your home and threatened your family and you have to retreat to the neighbor's house, which one are you going to run to the one with a gun or the one without?

Here's how I feel:

I fully support people knowing how to control their guns in the event of a domestic or foreign enemy. Our motto as citizens should be -- always ready for any situation, bring it on!

I am thoroughly heterosexual. However, I can't fault somebody who has a different mind-set than me. A funny story, a friend from back in the day (when I was a young teen), he used to look at me funny. ...I was naive. It turns out he is homosexual and had a crush on me back then. When I looked him up on fb a few years ago and went through his photo albums, which was decades later... J likes flower arrangements and guy bars and hugging and kissing guys! We discussed why he looked at me funny, holy f'n poop! I had noooo idea. All that was very hush hush back then. I thought he was simply a warm, loving friend!

Abortion? hmmm...I'll keep raising my off-spring and well, we will multiply and subdue Earth while others are tragically destroying their off-spring. I am pro-choice but choose life because I believe life begins at the moment of conception and abortion, therefore, is cold-blooded murder in my book!
