stand alone or pedal ? i brought one of the white boss pedal tuners when they first came out, and it never failed me. could also daisychain all my other pedals off its power source. genius bit of kit.

Well, you have the BOSS TU-2 tuner. And the Korg pitchblack tuner. Which one is better, I don't know, but the Korg is very easy to read on a stage.

+1
I have the BOSS TU-2 and love it. They no longer make that model, they now offer the TU-3. I don't know if that's an improvement or not; I have not messed around with one.

If it's anything like the TU-2, it's a keeper.

Not a fan of electronic tuners. I usually tune by ear and can do as good a job as any tuner.

I use a tuning fork usually to get my base pitch from and tune from there.

Neglected part of being a guitar player nowadays. So much so that there's actually players, so i'm told, that are unable to tune their instrument if left to their own devices.

That being said i do have the Boss one, the TU15. It's ok i suppose, i don't use it very much.

I've had a lot of luck with a cheap Snark clip on tuner I picked up last summer, but usually if I'm running through my Boss GT10 than I'll just use the on board tuner.

I use the TC Electronic Polytune.
It does what it says on the box. Strum all the strings and then tune.
Easy to use, sound muted, Drop D tuning, true bypass and pretty coloured lights.
With me being a tart, I bought it for the lights!! lol

+10K...Best tuner I have EVER used...well except for the peterson strobe tuner I had, but after 35 years it finally gave it up and it was exactly mobile!

These are great, and afforable strobe tuners. http://turbo-tuner.com/

I have one of those, mine is the ST-200 and also a Boss TU-2...the Turbo Tuner is more accurate than the Boss and it's in a smaller package...without a doubt the best tuner I've ever owned!

The clip on Snark and Korgs work okay for me most of the time.

Peterson for more precise accuracy.

The Boss TU 3 works almost the same as the TU 2. I messed with one in the store when I was testing out a guitar. I prefer my TU 2 and I have a Planet Waves clip on tuner for my acoustic. Either one works for my needs.

If you've a I-thing the Peterson I-Strobosoft APP' is excellence itself. Greater accuracy than any sub £200 pedal. Easy to use and see. And only costs £6

Love it. Bought the Line6 port in gizmo for my phone and it works with I-Strobosoft as well as turning the I-thing into a headphone amp/ amp sim for home recording.

The "big" difference is that the TU-3 is more accurate than the TU-2. The TU-2 is good to +/- 3 cent while the TU-3 is accurate to +/- 1 cent. The TU-3 is just as rugged as the TU-2. I'd say it's a keeper also.
