I can't tell due to lighting, but it looks like it doesn't have a headstock. Anyone know what this is called? I've seen a few of them used in various live shows, and have been kind of curious about them. I just couldn't find a decent example until I watched this video. Pause it at 00:27.

And I'm guessing they're a bit more difficult to play, they seem a bit off balance.

Steinberger makes headless guitars and basses but that looks like a cutom job. Something like this

I've played a couple of those guitas. The weight didn't throw me off as much as just the overall "feel" of the guitar...especially when playing first position chords, it just felt weird not having the headstock there. I wouldn't turn one down if a person were giving me one, but I wouldn't go out and search for one, either.

BTW, in the ZZ Top video for "Gimme All Your Lovin'", the Boyzz wanted something a little different for the guitars, so they had a luthier take a normal Strat and P-bass and just SAW THE HEADS OFF! He attached the strings on the (missing) headstock in some fashion so it wouldn't look fake...the guitars for that video were non-functional; they couldn't be tuned...(Just like Jake LudNut's guitars!) :P

I'd imagine it would feel a bit weird. I'd imagine my hand would "go cliff diving" a lot, seeing as during high tempo play, the headstock can be a nice stopper.

Aslo, loved the funny about Jakey. He's a decent fellow, like all of us, and like all of us, he isn't perfect :P

Also, with this Stratocaster. Is this a custom color, or a rare/vintage color? The headstock tells me vintage, but the color tells me custom. I don't know.

It's too shiny and sparkly to be Shoreline Gold, so I'll say it's a custom job...it might be gold leaf (very expensive) or maybe gold sparkle (like Joe Bonamassa's former baby)...

It's a really pretty color though. I don't think it's leaf, considering Sponge never made too much money off of the great music they made.
