I was thinking of getting a Standard J-Bass, but recently a lot of people have been recommending SX. I actually have a friend that prefers his $140 SX Bass to his Jaguar Bass.

So should I get a cheap SX bass, and spend the rest on a new amp, or should I get a Standard J-Bass?

I would link the SX bass I was thinking of, but I'm not sure if that's against the rules or not.

To me; Fender basses give an overall better sound than any knockoff. I got an SX fretless (my beginner) and it did play good, aside from some buzzing on the 1st "fret" marker.

If you want a nice looking/playing bass; I'd go for a Fender. If you want a casual/durable bass, then go with SX.
