Hello everyone this is my first post. I have been searching the net for some tips on artificial distressing... basically I want my guitar to look like I have been playing it for years and years, I am sure you are familiar. There are some people who think this is a "poser-like" thing to do. Well, I disagree. I am not a poser, I just like the look. I play in a band a few nights a week. I have been playing guitar for about ten years now... but it would take forever and a day to achieve that look I am after. I just bought my first American strat, it is incredible.....2007 tobacco sunburst. Though I am not sold on taking the sandpaper to it... I have tried it on an old gibson style guitar and also my fernandes..... both turned out looking fantastic... I was hoping to get a thread started and perhaps get some tips on streamlining the process, just in case I decide to age my american strat.... I can post pics of the work I have done thus far... its a lot less complicated than I thought it was going to be and it turned out great.... any comments?

Do a search on the internet on relic guitars or relicing guitars. Some, like the ones by Fender are believeable, like decent stonewash jeans, others, like many of the ones on eBay don't really look reliced, but look more like woodshop class or power tool accidents.

Personally, I don't think I'd ever buy one or relic any of my own guitars, but I do like looking at them because if done tastefully its artful and artistic destruction.
