i got a call from the local music shop yesterday to tell me that my old peavey mace amp will be ready sometime during the week 8) that didn't take long  i almost bought a duece vt yesterday to replace it , but no need for that now :D the guy who phoned me said he was having trouble hearing after putting it through it's paces , he said that it was serious loud  here's a wee pic , i almost forgot what it looked like myself

can't wait to get my mits on it again , i was getting a great rory gallagher sound from it before it blew the mains transformer ( whilst blasting out bullfrog blues ) , i've been told it's going to be bomb proof now (someone had put a bigger fuse inside the amp (i didn't know) and also modded a couple of things as well in the past , it's all been rectified now 8) , cheers
Alan

8) :D Looks good Alan. Nothing beats the older amps that have been played for years. Once had a Peavey tranny amp a "Special" 120 Watts. A great amp but it got traded towards a disastrous Vox Climax combo. That turned into a fiasco as it was always blowing fuses  What a nightmare that amp was! must go down as the worst i ever had and i see it didn't last long in Vox's catalog

That's like double my Envoy 110. Looks killer. Peavey was pumping out some great little amps. I know from owning one. What year is that? The guy at the shop I bought my little Envoy from said he thinks it's an 86-88, though he isn't sure.

hi buxom , this is a 70's monster tube amp (160 watt) as used by lynerd skynerd back in the day to play stadiums without miking up the guitars into a pa system  it also weighs about the same as a baby elephant :D , it puts out a cracking sound though , cheers

Those amps were aptly named--they pummeled you over the head like some Medieval weapon of some sort, except with volume rather than a spiked ball of iron!

Congrats on getting your baby back...now, do you have the number to your chiropractor?

I have a classic VT and that is loud enough! The Mace must be unabelievably loud! If you turned it up I would probably hear it down here on the south coast. 8)
I have seen replacement footswitches on ebay.com, but have not tried one of these as I still have the original.

hi guys , SA you hit the nail on the head mate , very aptly named amps , and one of the first things i done to it was put a set of castors on it  and southcoast , yes i saw those , i would really like a peavey one to go with the amp but at the moment i'm watching a marshall 5 switch pedal that i can rewire to work the mace 8)
i dropped into the shop today after work and it's been switched on most of the day (they just want to make sure alls ok) and the guy i spoke to on the phone plugged in a nice gibby 335 into the normal channel and was admiring the sound , i told him to wait a second and plugged it into the automix input and adjusted a few of the controls , his face was a picture , he didn't know that you could have the 2 channels on at the same time , he was even more impressed with the sound then 8) i should have the bad boy home by the weekend , looking forward to it

Hi Alan, youcertainly have a gem of an amp there, the Mace and Deuce were killer amps . I had the honor of owning the first Deuce that came into the province. When I bought the Deuce in 1976 I tried a Fender Twin and an Acoustic bt the Deuceblew both of them out of the water. It was the model with the tremolo-the phaser model came out a couple of years afterI used it gigging for years and I was the only one in the band who didn't need to be mic-ed.I kick myself daily for selling it when I got my Marshall-don't ever be as reckless as I was and hang on to the beauty that you have there.Enjoy it fully

They are one of the most deadly combos ever made bar none and certainly at the top of the Peavey line-just incredible amps with guts galore.
