If you guys want a 4 pup Teisco you'd better start saving really big because to get one of them in real good condition you'd have to be prepared to spend over $500 and a lot more if it's a rare colour.

That would be the main issue. Though every now and again there's the seller that doesn't know what it is and doesn't look at other completed sales and just lists for like $100.

I already know Teisco, but what are some others that would be relatively easy to find, on eBay or otherwise? Things that would be easy to find, cheap, and actually play well. The ones with those really weird, great sounding pickups, etc.. The Teiscos have been getting a bit pricey lately, but I'm still interested in something like that, so I'm wondering what some alternatives would be.

Teiscos are getting expensive? Maybe my little Teisco/Silvertone is worth more than I thought.

They seem to be getting to around $600-$900 for nicer models. Unfortunately, those are the ones I want. :?

I like my Teisco, but if somebody offered me $900 for it I'd let it go. But in the shape it's in I don't see it being worth much in my lifetime. It's not in bad shape, but it's far from mint and has an amateur paint job on it.

Decca, small sized thin line. My first guitar back in early 70s. Two tone sunburst. I should have never smashed it! Not very mature for a young man back then, even if angry!
It also had toaster top pickups. It sounded killer through a Crown bass amp with an EH Muff Fuzz. Those were the days! The amp was a piggyback and, the bottom had a 15 inch Pioneer speaker. I smoked the amp, and gave away the half stack.

Of course there are the early Yamaha guitars, late 60s and early 70s...

And I love my two early 70s Electra guitars...

I bought both of these guitars for little more than nothing back in the mid 90s and the Electra even came with the original hard-shell case.

Both are very well made and sound great. I used to gig with the Yamaha all of the time back in the 90s. I rotate them out of storage a couple times a year and play the heck out of them!

Just for the sake of completism, nobody's mentioned Aria yet. In the '70s they were making so-so copy guitars, suddenly as the '80s came along they became a respected brand in their own right, mainly for their basses. In particular, all the funksters seemed to be sporting Aria basses for a while.

...And then they quietly retreated to being a cheapo copy brand again. Odd way to go. I think they were trying to have an Aria bass comeback a couple of years ago with some surprisingly expensive '80s flavored models, but it doesn't seem to have amounted to much.

For brands it can sometimes be a circular ride on the wheel of fortune.

For what it's worth, here's their site: http://www.ariaguitars.com/english/

Fairly recently, I was looking into an Aria. I'm considering doing a Rock band on the side with my drummer just for a little fun. So I was looking at this:

Would have done it if it hadn't been for one thing. I can't have the switch in that spot. I'll hit that thing a million times.

I think I'm just gonna get a set of Phat Cat P-90's and put them in a guitar I already have.

I've had a lot of luck with my old Ventura, that said I can't say what their guitars are like but my Ventura bass is without a doubt one of the best sounding basses for sitting in the mix that I've ever heard.

My brother and I each owned "Prestige" brand guitars from the local discount store back in the late '60s. Action was so high you could cut hard boiled eggs or cheese with the strings. They pop up on The Bay from time to time.
