Here's an example of how a Fender Strat and a Fender P-Bass can seriously rock out.

Iirc Kirk Hammet also used S/S/S strats on the early Metallica days. I keep hearing the fenders are not metal nonsense.

If it has humbuckers it can play metal. SIngle coils tend to be ab it iffy for it, but they can work.

I have been playing Metal on Strats for years. SSS, HSS, and for now I have a HH about to become a HSH. Once I finish my Blacktop modification, I am going to return my Highway1 back into a SSS. I am most likely going for the CS 69s.

The Scorpions are more hard rock than metal but anyway Matthias Jabs has used Strats, and a Fender Prosonic amp. Also Fast Eddie Clarke from Motorhead uses a Strat.

Single coils are fine for heavy music as long as you use enough distortion. My single coil Tele is a great metal guitar when I play it through my Digitech RP5 pedal. Dropped D tuning, palm muting: it can do it all.

He kills it. I was not a big MM fan until seeing him live. Great use of trem, and playing tasteful solos. He is quite under-rated, really.

Has Dave ever played a Fender other than a Strat? Has Adrian ever played a Fender? I know the Live after Death album has their gear listed but I don't have the CD anymore.

For the two weeks he was in the band.

Martin Barre used Strats and Strattish things quite a lot here and there on the Tull repertoire though. As much as I love them, which I do, I'd never call Tull heavy metal, despite what the Grammies thought back in '89.

I actually prefer single coils for metallish things these days - never really saw the point in taking a big, midrange heavy humbucker then sucking all the mids out of it when you can start with something which doesn't have those mids in the first place and just use a bit more woof from the amp.
