Hey Nathan

Can you do "Purple Haze" too? Let's hear it!

Cheers

David

I seriously don't think he will. Jimi hasn't killed anyone for ages, far as I'm aware. Not his style.

Cheers - C

Your efforts are admirable, but if I may make a suggestion:

Get the rhythm part down. I mean get it dead-to-rights. Don't mess with your wah, don't worry about the little accent notes and stabs, just work on the rhythm.

If a guitarist plays the main riff and the rhythm line of a song right, the audience (outside of the guitarists) will not notice the missing accents and flourishes. If the rhythm is messed up and screwy, nobody (musician or non-musician) will be impressed or happy with the performance.

When you get that rhythm really tight, THEN worry about the wah, the toggling between pickups and the stabs and flourishes.

Right now you have a bunch of puzzle pieces--some are pretty good (the pickup toggle switch thing, a couple of the stabs), but the pieces haven't been put together to make a proper picture yet.

I will say this--your playing has improved tenfold since your previous banishment (maybe the Gibson Forum did you some good :D )...however, you still have a ways to go, so keep practicing.

We do that song at every gig,my son wears it out,me,and the drummer and bass player keep the rhythm going but I'll take a ride sometimes,Armadillo is right,...it's a song that sounds crappy without the driving swampy beat....learn how to do that.

Selfish and unfunny. Please stop. You are going to discourage people from joining or participating on this Forum because of your poor choice of words and amateurish antics. This plea includes who ever it is that encourages you to behave in this self serving manner. Enough is enough.

Rollie--
Brad's obviously let him back in, he hasn't done anything dishonest or stupid (yet) and his playing is much improved over a few months ago (is it good? No, but he's at least sticking to it and you gotta give him credit for that...)
If you're gonna attack someone, go for the arrogant or rude, or wait until Nathan gets out of hand again...I was as hard on him as anyone (first, second and third time around). But if he continues to hang around like this--no ridiculous lies, stupid argument-inducing posts, etc., you can't attack him.

Chill, bro...

Matt, you've misinterpreted a plea to stop as an attack. I do not want to nor would I attack anyone. It's possible to misconstrue another persons wording but taking a moment to read without including ones own thoughts usually works. I came to this Forum and stayed because there was an obvious absence of nonsense on these pages at that time, had I read posts from the member now here I assure you that I would not have joined. I stay only because I remember what it once was and there are still friends that post here.

Let the kids be kids, there's nothing you or anybody else can do to change it. There is something about a 13 to 15 year old kid, that naturally makes them damn obnoxious to adults, there just silly little #$%^ and that's the way it is. If you think, chances are you were the same at that age. I know I was, and I had the bruises to prove it. If you have kids of your own that age, there probably the same way when your not around. There not that way when your with them, because they know you wouldn't tolerate it, but the minute your back's turned, who knows. We as adults have to learn to be tolerant of there antics. If we cant, maybe were the ones that should go away. you don't have to check out every post on the forum. If you don't like what you see don't look. 8)

----Danny,

well said...who wasn't a little obnoxious during their early teen years? as adults we should be more tolerant and not forget what it is like to be young. as far as the playing goes.. keep at it and live the dream!

This is my second try at posting this. My junk cable internet sucks! Screw deregulation now and forever! Now where was I, oh yes....................Nah! Jimi would probably just chuckle and say keep practicing kid! Listen to what the other guys wrote about you being out of beat and for goodness sake, learn the song before you video yourself and put it on the net. Watch and listen to yourself play the piece, you'll know when it is worthy of exposing it to the world. You only riffed for two minutes. Jimi would go on for 20 minutes. Tighten it down and then post it, good luck! I'm proud to see young fellows like you trying Jimi's tunes! Keep it up!

If I may reiterate something that I've said many times before. It isn't doing a kid or adult for that matter any favours by heaping on false praise to the point of it almost being hyperbole. That does way more harm than good because it gives them a false sense of self confidence and they mistakenly start to really believe that they are more talented than they really are which would no doubt end up with them headed for a real let down when the ugly truth is put before them.Like I said before sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind, but there are ways to diplomatically tell someone what needs to be worked on and where they need to concentrate more and encourage them to keep trying.I always used that approach with kids that I have mentored and though some of them maybe weren't too keen to hear it initially they really appreciated it in the long run because eventually it made them better and more concientious musicians. But I can't say it often enough never ever tell someone that they are great or even good when they clearly aren't but you don't have to tell them they stink, just tell them the areas that need work. They mightn't thank you for it now but they will down the road.

With all due respect I'd pointed out some constructive critique. I'd rather be encouraging to the lad than to poop down his throat. He has the nuts to post himself playing. I don't feel better by nit picking his attempt. I feel I was sincere and positive. By the way check your spelling pal............Oh Gee! I have a conscience but I'm using tough love! Don't take it too seriously, I had to respond to what I felt sounded it wee bit snobby. Peace and good day!

Boy, two minor spelling errors, I hope that doesn't prevent more people from interpreting the gist of what I was saying.Love and Kisses.

Anybody who has been reading my posts for the years I've been on this forum knows full well that I am and never have been sanctimonious of haughty with a holier than thou attitude.I stated what I did so people wouldn't put the kid down with negative insulting remarks and if you read more to it than that then I apologize for not making it easier for you to comprehend.
