If Ludnuts wants to be a true underground artist then he should have someone bury him. Hee hee hee.

Re Marshall amps: I think that the fact that I have 3 speaks for itself, that's 4 if you include my MS-4 "monster stack".Although my JCM 800s have the real Marshall roar when cut loose the 4210 combo can clean up and almost get jangley. The cleanest one is my old 1971 Artiste model 2040 which is a 50W reverb combo with the original Celestion Greenbacks. The previous owner had extensively modded the guts of it to 2204 JCM 800 specs and had also changed the schematics so that its clean settings were much cleaner than original. The amp is currently on long term loan to my nephew who I bought it for with the understanding that if he ever wanted to get rid of it that it be returned to me.
Where Hendrix covers are a huge part of my gigging a Marshall stack is pretty well a necessity as even a 100W 2-12 combo doesn't move enough air to emulate the sound of a stack at full tilt boogie.

I doubt you'd rumble the whole neighborhood, but today I was home alone, so I tried something... I turned my stack up to 10, left the room (for my ears' sake, I just ran the cord under the door.) and let loose. The picture frames on my walls were shaking, it was pure euphoria.

I wouldn't want to risk blowing a speaker, so I wouldn't play on 10 for too long, though it's probably unlikely to happen. I had my windows open, so there's no doubt the houses nearest to me heard it.

...make sure the animals are put away before you do an amp test. I did an amp test once and found the cat had run into the wall, hard, done.

You're a wise man Alan,BTW in the Marshall book Jim Marshall is quoted as saying that the JCM 800 2203 model was the best amp that they ever made. That's the 100W master volume for the uninitiated.I have the 2204 which is th 50W master volume and when I use my '65 or lefty Strats I can nail the Woodstock Star Spangled Banner tone dead on.When/if my old mitts ever get better I'll have to do a tone demo, the similarity is uncanny.
