That list makes no sense, even if it is from someone under 30.

the beatles aren't on there... even if you don't like them, you can't deny their influence on rock, which i would think alone puts them in the top 100

It's just a made-up list meant to upset everyone.
Just like the top 100 solos list. (I think 'Teen Spirit' was #1 on that list... )

they're always one person's opinion, but they usually have no knowledge on the subject they're making the list on... this was probably made by someone who enjoys newer, more "alternative" music rather than looking at the actual influence on the genre... the solo list was most likely put together by someone who's never played a guitar before in their life

My jaw is dragging on the floor with an unnerving combination of disgust and sheer disbelief.

No, more seriously I am not surprised. No one with a serious appreciation of music...
Oh forget it, I'll let Zappa say it:

You'll only need to hear the first 2:10.

Don't be surprised. Just get out your guitar and get on with the business of saving the next generation of music lovers. 8)

Man I miss Franks straightforwardness. He neglected to mention that MTV was the worst at being hip and deciding what's cool and what's not. MTV had a huge hand in destroying popular music. I still find it prophetic that the first video played on MTV was "Video Killed The Radio Star". How true.

i find it hard to think that any more than about 5 bands out of the last 10 years or so would make the list, let alone more than half of it being from today's music....possibly if the list was made 20 years later and we could see the outcome of their careers, but most current bands don't belong on there except possibly a few

Yup. You're absolutely right there, my man. It's no coincidence that the emergence of MTV coincides with the emergence of Hair Metal. Suddenly, the image became more important than the music.

Which is not to say there aren't some awesome performers out there today, don't get me wrong. I am all about contemporary styles and sounds. It's just that with so much more media being proliferated upon us, there's a whole lot more chaff to separate from the wheat.

And sadly, some suits and ties and doing the separating.
