No.

And who cares? Hell being next to some of those acts they have in there might not be considered an achievement.

A Hall of Fame is not very Rock N Roll.
So the RnR HOF is not Rock N Roll...

If you must have one--have your own personal list.

The R&RHOF is the biggest farce and waste of money in the entertainment industry, there are so many acts that get in that are no more Rock and Roll than Beethoven yet there are famous rockers who have been snubbed for years .There's something very clandestine that goes on with the nomination process and it should be investigated and a new lot of scrutineers who actually have a clue about what Rock is brought in.

I agree that the RnRHOF is a complete waste of time and money. Heck, corruption probably reeks havoc with the nominees too.

Chicago (i.e. the real Chicago - Terry Kath, Peter Cetera, etc..) are not in the HOF and had so much talent (they still do!) they could blow away anyone on stage.

The moment that ruined it all for me with the HOF... The night Creedence Clearwater Revival got inducted into the HOF. John Fogarty was there along with Stu Cook (bass) and Doug Clifford (drums). (Tom Fogarty (rhythm guitar) died a few years before this). For some asinine, unforgivable, reason... John Fogarty PUBLICLY REFUSED to reunite/play on stage with his former band mates, right there live on TV. He asked Bruce Springsteen and members of the E Street Band to sit in with him. Stu Cook and Doug Clifford and their wives got so disgusted, they walked out.

Hey, John Fogerty is one of the most political musicians alive today - I can't stand his concerts or even his DVDs! He can't just play guitar and sing, he's got to ramble on between every 3rd or 4th song about political issues. As far as getting together with his former mates to play - screw 'em! They weren't there when he needed them, so for once I think he was right. And Springsteen's as political as Fogerty, so why not?

This HOF discussion has been going on for years but yeah, it's all pretty stupid.

Abba's in, I like 'em. And I can certainly understand why they are. See, there was a time in the 70's when rock radio wasn't as divided up as it is now, IMO. I mean the station I listened to growing up would play Joe Walsh, followed by Abba, than maybe Starlight Vocal band, a KISS track, and Barry Manilow, and all of it was considered rock music. So from that view and the fact that Abba had many hits and a bunch of albums they should be there whether you or I like them or not.

But by that definition alone, bands like Rush and KISS also have had long and successful careers that should entitle them to be in the HOF. The musicianship of Rush alone may help them get in at some point, KISS on the other hand is a joke to so many people that I don't anticipate they'll ever get in.

But that's ok too, in Gene's own words, "being accepted by a bunch of aging hippies is not really high on my list of priorities."

Now why in the hell are the Beastie Boys or Run DMC in, don't know, don't get it.

I don't think that by any stretch of the imagination that ABBA could be classed as a rock band, they are/were a pop music group in the same vein as Olivia Newton John,Seals and Crofts and other artists from that era.Pop music has been mashed together with rock by the RRHOF so they can vote in their buddies and possibly get a bit of -dare I say ?- Payola.

Because I don't know Creedence Clearwater Revival personally, and have consequently never asked why there is so much animosity, there is only conjecture and assumption on my part. I did read something that goes like this (and I'm paraphrasing the quotes):

John wrote most of the music. He also was the de facto leader, making business and performance decisions without consulting the band, including partaking in a tax shelter with EVERYBODY's money, which later lost them millions.

The other members got upset and said, "We want more say in what happens in the band..."

He refused, his brother Tom quit the band, they continued as a trio.

John overreacted and informed Cook and Clifford the band would continue only by adopting a 'democratic' approach: each member would now write and sing his own material. Fogerty also would contribute only rhythm guitar to his bandmates' songs (no vocals, lead guitar or other instrumentation).

Cook and Clifford, who had only wanted more of a voice in the band's music and business decisions, resisted this arrangement. Fogerty insisted they accept the new arrangement, or he would quit the band

The album bombed, eventually nobody was happy, the band broke up and outside of Tom Fogerty's wedding and their own high school reunion, the four have not played together publicly since.

It seems that John Fogerty is a talented but petty person. I like a lot of his music, but he seems to be very passive-aggressive and selfish in some ways.

Yes, he was frontman and primary songwriter for all their hits--that didn't make him a good business leader or a good band leader.

However, I wasn't there, they're not here and we only know what we read or hear in interviews. Any statement made by any of the surviving members of the group is bound to be colored by their own bitterness or defensiveness (Tom died in 1990, due to complications of AIDS from a tainted blood transfusion).

Recently  J Fogerty said he would consider a reunion, but Cook and Clifford said, "Our phone hasn't rang..."

Back to the OP's original point, the RNRHOF isn't and shouldn't be the defining point of a band's legacy.

At this point, it seems more like a marketing/resume "bullet point" than a true indication of how important a band or artist is...

Having said that, I would like to go to Cleveland and visit the museum, just to see the displays and historical instruments. I enjoyed the Experience Music Project in Seattle greatly, but I approached it as "this is just cool stuff, not the end-all/be-all of music..."

It blows my mind...i don't understand their criteria.
I just don't get it.
The whole self-serving scene is what drove me to prog in the first place.
And I'm actually kinda happy to see some of my favorite bands (including Rush) nowhere near it.
