Hello everyone. Noob player of 3 months now. My first guitar was a Squier that came in a guitar pack, played it every day and learned just about everything on that guitar, even how to set it up. But then G.A.S. kicked in and I wanted an electric with humbuckers, so I found a great deal on CL for a Jackson PS-4. Then a week later I went to my favorite guitar store and tried an acoustic for the first time. Loved it. Had to have one. So a week later (this past Saturday) I walked out of the store with a ear to ear grin. Here she is!

Fender CD60CE all mahogany. It was the very last CD60 in the shop with a solid mahogany top! I did some reading and apparently this was a very limited 2011 production run. The new CD60's don't offer a solid mahogany top. And I tried the 2012's and this guitar made them sound like toy guitars. And at $275 with a hard case it was a too good of a deal to pass up! :)
The only thing I regret was selling the Squier in order to buy this one. It was my first guitar. But I know sometime in the near future ill be buying me a American Standard.

Fender for life! :)

One question... Are you a Strat man, or a Tele man? And why not start with a MIM or another Squier and use it as a mod platform, you know, so you can really get everything you want out of a guitar. But seriously, AM Standards are nice, I'd also look into a lightly used Highway One. The big F decommissioned them, but they're still out there for a good price, and for a top of the line American guitar, it's hard to find a better deal.

Congrats on the new guitar and don,t feel bad about selling your first because there will be many more. Buxom Hwy 1s are still on their product list so I don,t think they have been decommissioned. The bests rule of thumb when buying any guitar is to buy the best you can afford as long as you like it.

Strat. Here's my mod platform.

Wish list is Duncan SH-5/69/SH-3 if I find a good MIM deal I'll jump at it. But for now this Jackson is my "strat". :)

I remember there being a big fuss on the forums here over it. Plus, I asked my local mom and pop shop where all the HWY Ones went, and they told me that Fender stopped making them. I forgot the model name, but there was one that was basically the same and for a similar price.

Be sure to check eBay and CL. I found a MIM Tele and won the auction at $215. I've been modding it with small things, but, I'm going to do a new neck, a widerange in the neck position, and a blacktop wiring harness.

Also, I love that Jackson. Sweet looking shredder imo, and I don't even shred. Be sure to not go crazy, a had a friend with a Flying V, and when he was done he put almost all of his savings into it. He quit playing this year, which is just a shame, considering he has one sweet guitar.

Love the acoustic--my first guitar was a Fender acoustic; I still have it and love it!

Congrats and happy new guitar day!

Thanks everyone! I have one quick question, the description of the guitar is "all mahogany" but wen I looked up the specs I ran into this site:
http://www.gelbmusic.com/p-2102-fender- ... ny-wc.aspx

It's also described as all mahogany but the description says mahogany top and nato back/sides/neck. not a big deal since she sounds really good due to that solid top but I was just wondering. I think I'm gonna write fender and ask for a full spec sheet and production run and numbers. Who knows maybe I have a rare gem here. :) I know it's no Martin or Taylor but it could still be something special. :)

That's a sweet guitar,I wouldn't care what woods it was made of either as long as it sounded good.

Cool to see MOP work on a "cheap" guitar!

Maybe later I'll make a video review but I'm a noob at playing so I'm kinda hesitant because I might not give the guitar justice.

Congrats on the new guitar. Everyone should own at least one Acoustic Guitar. After All that's where it all started, and there's no other sound like it. 8)
