Hoping to be in New York for a couple of days next week and I need some guitar store recommendations please. Not just new stuff but interesting store like the ones in Denmark street.

Also where do I visit some historical places, like where Chas Chandler found Jimi Hendrix.

Taa!

Rudy`s Music Stop is located at :
169 West 48th Street just off Broadway. Phone number is 212 391 1699.
There`s also a well stocked Sam Ash right across the street from Rudy`s along with other music stores. As far as music stores like the ones on Denmark Street, I can`t help cause I don`t know of it. Enjoy your trip.

How many old geezers here like me remember this jingle: "Let your fingers do the walking through the Yellow Pages"?

48th Street between 6th and 7th Avenues (as has already been stated) is your biggest concentration of musical instrument stores although it is now, including Manny's, a Sam Ash domination. There are others more downtown on Ludlow St, etc. Again, consult the Yellow Pages for what you may find interesting. FWIW, I've never heard of Denmark St. either.

Sorry... you know when you have finished a post then add something at the last minute - mine was Denmark Street.

The problem with paper publications is that once printed they can quickly go out of date, especially in todays economic climate!
Personal recommendation surely has to be better. I'm hoping this will save me time so I can fit in a visit.
I am an old fart and cant be wasting energy walking to shops that aren't there anymore. :(

The locations you describe sounds just fine!

Thanks

Yea, it's been a while since I have been to New York but yes Rudy's is a good place to stop. And Sam Ash is both next to and across the street from it. Percussions next to it and Guitars are across the street.
