I cut my thumb last week and it is affecting my guitar playing. It was nothing major, just enough to hurt like hell. It was a kitchen accident that could have been avoided.

Today I read about a player who severly cut his finger, severed a tendon and lost the feeling in it. He was working in his kitchen at the time. His finger will stay bent until the tendon heals and he goes through physical therapy.

I just ordered a pair of Kitchen Cut-Resistant gloves "Victorinox 81613 HandSHIELD 2 Cut Resistant Glove. Many professional chefs wear them.

If you handle knives at all please condider getting one or two. Every musician should have them.

I use a Rapala filleting glove if I'm doing either amount of cutting.I learned my lesson one day while drying my sharpest chef's knife and not paying attention to what I was doing for a split second-that's all it takes.BTW the wond was taking an inordinate ammount of time to heal so I brushed some Super Glue over the wound while holding it closed and it healed in 2 or 3 days.

These gloves are not expensive and you really only need one. I ordered two. I wish I would have heard about them before I bloodied the kitchen counter.
