I have the opportunity to buy a Japanese Squier SQ guitar from 1984 or a Fender Stratocaster MIJ '62 reissue 1987.
Both guitars have still their original setup and are about the same price!
Anyone who could give me advice about which one would be the best?

I cannot compare them side to side. They're both on another location

If I were given that choice I'd pick the '62 reissue in a heartbeat but that's because I'm very partial of '62-'65 Strats for the sound,payability,sunburst pattern and neck profile. I can't say which is best because that's all subjective,what I may think what's"best" you may detest.I can say though if you really like the classic Strat "bell-like chime" and "quack" when played clean,the '62 would be the better choice.

get the 62 reissue they were well made and at the time were better sounding than the American made strats hands down
