Had my first open mic tonight. I personally think it was rough but everyone who has seen the tape that my brother took says it sounded fine but would be good if I would have just relaxed. The guitar was just fine but I worry about my voice. Doesn't sound great to me. Apparently doesn't seem to bother anyone else.

Well, I gave it a shot. Hopefully I can try it again soon.

Kudos to you for having the guts to get up there. We tend to be our own worst critics. In fact my own criticism of myself has kept me from performing at an open mic just recently. If others said it was good, then it was.

Keep doing it. That's how I started singing. I was deathly afraid of singing in public, but I knew I had to start somewhere. It can only get better with time and practice like anything else. Now it doesn't bother me at all.

Congrats Andrew, the first time is the hardest, if you weren't in possession of talent your friends would have let you know, so, keep up the good work, it gets better from now on.

Well alright!!! Good for you!!!

You've got to start somewhere, sometime. You've got that behind you now. You're always going to have good nights and bad nights. Either way, just move on to the next song.

Always thank those who compliment you and let them know it's appreciated, even if you think otherwise. They're there supporting you and that's nice to have.

Good luck, keep playing and enjoy. Let us know how it goes next time.

the first time is the hardest........truer words have never been spoken, but back on topic,

I get nervous even playing in front of my girl friend (I am back on topic).
I may take some group lessons more to get a little more comfortable performing in public (still on topic).

Congrats, seems many of the greats had a hard time initially, didn't Rod Stewart stand behind the amps the first time he sang?

Thank you all for your support and words of kindness. I think I am getting back out tonight. I feel better about it today than I did last night so I figure why not give it another go.

You got up the nerve, you went up there, and you did it! Cool.
That's a whole lot more than I can say for myself.
Good deal.
