I am getting just a tad bit miffed to say the least with you, Fender.

Why the HELL can you not properly package your guitars so they don't get damaged during shipping?!? I am SICK of getting brand new guitars and having them arrive messed up.

I bought a Fender 12-string that had to be sent back because the headstock was dented because there was no foam pad protecting it in the box.

I bought a Pawn Shop Mustang Special that had a damaged 3-way selector switch because the guitar is just thrown in a gig-bag inside a cardboard box, and has no internal bracing, padding, etc to protect the guitar. So I had to send it back.

In exchange for the pawn shop mustang, I just got the Cobain mustang today, and lo and behold, Fender throws the whammy bar and allen wrench in a plastic baggie, LOOSE inside the guitar's box, so it flopped around inside and ended up denting the hell out of the back side of the guitar and now I have to send it back!! I am getting sick of paying for these lovely guitars that arrive bollocksed up, because Fender is TOO CHEAP to give their guitars proper packaging that protects the instrument!!

In further irony, my SQUIER Duo-Sonic, the least expensive of the guitars I have mentioned, was packaged to the tee, filled with cardboard bracing, foam pads, etc. So, you protect your cheap guitars, but your expensive guitars you NEGLECT???

Please stop being cheap and lazy and put some proper packaging around your guitars so they don't end up wrecked before I even open the box.

Taking that kind of attitude when wanting to resolve an issue is a pretty poor way to go about getting anything done as a matter of fact I imagine that more than one person reading this thread has branded you as a troll. As the old adage goes-you catch more flies with sugar than with vinegar.

Quit being such a pretentious douchebag and accept that your guitar is going to get scratches and dings. I understand the switch, but seriously? A few scratches? You might as well not even play, because your frets are going to wear, your fretboard will get scratched over time, and the lacquer will wear where you rest your arm and where your body sits in the contours.

If you bought from a store then Fender had nothing to do with it.

I can understand you frustration. I hope your post help to relieve some of it, but as others have stated that's not the best way to get an issue resolved. A firm, but calm attitude will go a long ways. Fender may listen and not only start packing your guitars better, but others as well.

FYI, My CS bass was packaged as well or better than your Squier.

That's really bad, but I don't think Fender did it.

let's take a calm look at this...

was it shipped from the store in the same box that fender shipped it to the store?

did the store take it out of the box and re-package it?

did the store ship a guitar that was hanging on the wall and already had damage?

when i order a guitar, i expect it to be in a brand new condition. i would never buy a new car, and expect to find dents in it, only to have the dealer say: "no big deal, you probably are going to have dents in it someday"

from a personal experience, where i buy my online equipment, they pacage it extremely well, and i haven't had a damage issue yet

This concept falls flat when we're talking about a relic or road worn guitar.

Cheers

The bottom line is, if I purchase a NEW product, I expect it to arrive in NEW condition. If I then put my own scratches and dents in it, thats my prerogative, but I DONT damage my guitars, I take CARE of them, and they are all in great condition. So those of you that are trying to BLAME ME?? for not accepting a brand new product that cost $1000, arriving damaged, are nothing but BULLIES, stop trying to BLAME THE VICTIM. The customer is always right. I don't pay $1000 for something that's "new" when it isn't new. Its damaged goods, it will be sent back. I'm not someone who is going to sit back quietly and not make waves when a recurrent problem keeps popping up, especially one that is totally avoidable if Fender would just take a little bit more care and provide proper packaging.

This is an attempt to draw attention to the fact that people sending back guitars that are damaged upon arrival is causing Fender and their vendors lose money. So spend an extra couple bucks on the packaging and save yourselves from losing hundreds of dollars. I am trying to HELP you Fender, I haven't asked for free guitars, lifetime supplies of free strings, blah blah blah, I want nothing in return but for you to please re-evaluate your packaging for your guitars. This is the fourth time I have had to send back a Fender guitar because of lousy packaging. Every other brand of guitar I have purchased has always been securely packaged and padded and protected for shipping. Lets face it, UPS and Fedex bash the hell out of their packages. So if a guitar isn't packaged sufficiently the likelihood of it getting damaged is sky-high.

So what would be great is if someone who is able, would care to mention to a Fender official that your packaging could stand a major upgrade. THANK YOU.

You're still missing the whole point there cockie, you came out with fists clenched and guns blazing when an assertive but diplomatic approach would have made a better impression both with Fender's Customer Relations and the people on the forum. As for blaming the "victim"smarten up,it's not like you were raped or mugged you simply had an unfortunate situation and handled it like a spoiled pre-pubescent kid would. We can all empathize with what happened here but any bit of compassion that anyone would have had for you flew out the window when you came charging in on your high horse exascerbating the situation.I'm not making allowances or excuses but the packaging could have been done by someone who had just started the job and didn't know the proper techniques or maybe there's a chance that it wasn't Fender's fault at all.It could've been damaged in transit-as often happens-and hurriedly repackaged by the courier or whoever to cover up their mistake.Any number of things could have happened but you came out taking the offensive all in a huff with an accusatory beligerent attitude. For God's sake grow up man and go out and buy a copy of Norman Vincent Peale's "How To Win Friends And Influence People" it would do you the world of good and heelp you avoid premature worry lines all over your beak.

Man this thread is just nasty, lighten up folks. The bottom line is who did you buy the guitars from, if they are a licensed dealer you have to deal with them obviously. At the same time let Fender know via this forum, or call them, about the recurring issues. Yikes.

This is why I don't buy guitars or amps mail order period. I would seriously look at another dealer. And yeah the douch bag comments are unwarranted. If something like that happened that many times to me I'd be pissed too. If it came in a factory sealed box, it's Fenders fault, if it didn't, it's the dealers fault.
