Turns out that the new iPad doesn't have a suffix, Siri or 8MP camera like 4S iPhone.

The new $99 Apple TV thing for streaming sounds cool though. Some cool new apps like
iMovie, iWork, Garageband add-on (Smart Strings), etc.

Discuss...

Personally, I hate companies like Apple that have all this technology, but spoonfeed it to consumers, so they can sell more gadgets.

I'll pass.

Plus, have you heard the news reports about the factories in China that make these things. They have suicide nets around the factories, because apparently it's common for the
Chinese workers, that work 24 hours a day to make these things, to commit suicide.

One thing I am in no hurry to buy is a iPad. I do enjoy My iMac and Macpro though! Don't know if I ever buy another PC.

I'm a PC guy.

Apple/MAC is a good system but I can work on my PC hardware and not sure I can work on a Mac. Never tried. I built my last 4 PC's from parts.

I do own an IPOD. It was a gift and possibly the best birthday present I ever got. But I'm not an I phone guy or Mac guy and the I pad thing looks like it is not easy to type upon so I'm going to pass on it for now.

I was watching season 1 episode 1 of Start Trek starring William Shatner made in late 65 or early 66 at Desilu Studios last night. That reminded me of where the concept for all this high tech actually originated. It was not Steve Jobs even though he gets credit and made one of the world's largest fortunes. It all came from the minds of Gene Roddenberrry and Arthur C. Clarke. Other than faster than light travel and teleportation most of everything else those two envisioned has come to pass. Cell phones, stun guns, geostationary satellites, thermal scanning, etc were all Sci-Fi in 1965.

I ordered the 32 GB wifi model and sold my iPad 2 on craigslist this morning for
a nice profit with many apps.

Yea, I like iOS and Macs, but MS has it's place too.

some of my 'stuff' :
iPhone 4S 16GB / iPad 32GB / iMac Core i7 / iCloud / 2 windows laptops (W7 and XP pro)

...won't bore y'all with musical gear...lol.

Well, I used to be a computer tech for several years both with Windows desktops and Macs. Prior to OSX, I was never really a Mac fan. OSX changed all of that. Now, I am strictly Apple. Between my wife and I we have two iMacs, a Macbook Pro, two iPads and two apple TVs. The only thing that I miss about windows is Microsoft Access. There just isn't anything that comes close to Access for database management.

To me, the iPad is just plain wonderful. Add an external keyboard to an iPad and you almost don't really need a computer.

Just to keep this guitar related, there is a new app they I recently bought that I think is killer. It is Notion for the iPad. It is a guitar notation app that has, (to me), a wonderful feature. You can enter your music (standard notation or TAB) via a guitar fretboard or a keyboard. The app is only in it's initial stages (version 1.2), so it is not perfect but, it does an pretty good job. I think that once they make a couple of small changes like add pickup measure support and the ability to change the built in guitar symbols (some are just plain wrong), it will set the standard for notation on the iPad. As it is, it blows away the Guitar Pro app and Tab Toolkit. The app is a little more expensive that most iPad apps ($14.99) but I think that it is worth it. There is a guitar only version called Progression for $4.99 and a free version but the free version is TAB only and is kind of limited.

Please don't think that this is SPAM and that I am trying to sell you something. I just think that this is a pretty cool app. My 9 year old granddaughter just loves it too!!!!

Most techs seem to say the same, Mac over Pc's yet Pc's are the most popular out their . I think that has more to do with cost then anything else. Imacs start at 1200.00 and desktop MacPros 2400.00 and Macbooks start at a 1000.00+ where as you can get a Pc for 30 to 40% less then a Imac but you also get the Microsoft headaches with it. You can go to any Staples or Office Depot and get a laptop for 5 or 6 hundred and they will even have some basic ones as low as 350.00
I have just had so many issues over the years with Pc's and updating them to new ones every two years and past things like Windows ME, 2000, Vista all horrible in my opinion, I did like XP Pro.

I have an older iPod due to the simplicity. Not interested in this overpriced stuff that I probably won't use often.

I like Apple products (apart from the iPhone...) but they are far too overpriced. You can get much better for the same money. I know that it's like any "premium brand", but when you compare the macbooks and macbook air to the competitors, I really don't see a reason to use them.

I also really hate the hype surrounding apple products. I'm all for someone having brand loyalty but some of these guys go hysterical over apple stuff. It's actually almost worrying.
