Our daughter Leah phoned us today to tell us that she has passed her Class 4 drivers licence test which means that she's now qualified to drive an ambulance whereas before she was limited to driving it only when there wasn't a "casualty" on board or she was sitting in back with said "casualty" or up front in the passenger's seat. Now she can respond to medical calls and transport people to hospital.

A couple of years ago she was promoted to shift supervisor of the security/medical responder/paramedic division even though she was the youngest person there and had the least seniority.Where she works is one of the largest iron ore mines of its type in North America so she has a huge amount of responsibility but the higher ups didn't take long to realize that she was an exceptional worker who was extremely intelligent and exhibited innate leadership qualities. One day last week there was some kind of serious incident there but she didn't go into details-probably afraid that we'd be worried to death from hereon in.Anyway she took charge and handled it.The next day the mine's head honcho came into her office-which is highly unusual and she figured that her job was toast-anyway she was very wrong for he had come to praise her personally, as the way that she took charge and handled the incident was the talk of the mine, especially among management who were highly impressed. She may be coming home to stay with us for a few months in September because she's going to take her paramedics course. That should be a cinch for her because she passed her EMR (Emergency Medical Responder) course at the top of her class. For a youngster of just 26 years old I think that she`ll be going somewhere and that will be up.

Edit: Update new development: Leah just phoned, her boyfriend was so pleased with her that he up and gave her a Harley 883.This is the same guy who found the original uncirculated Woodstock ticket for the day Jimi played and the original Jimi concert playbill and gave them to me.Pretty good guy, wouldn't you say???

I know you are proud of her. I would be too.
I think we take more pride in our children's accomplishments than our own.
There are alot of good kids out there like your daughter. Too bad we don't hear more about them.
Thanks for sharing.
