My '65 Mustang was made in Oct. too and is my only '65 with the "F" plate.I don't know if the rosewood is Brazilian or Indian and I can't tell by the accent when she "speaks" to me.

Hi Nevin,if his Mustang has an Oct. date on the neck it's almost certain that it would have the "F" plate rather than the "L" plate. He didn't mention it being an "L" series but there's a chance albeit very slim that it is.Cheers.
EDIT: Big OOPS,I just noticed that he did indeed say that it was an"L" series, that's strange indeed because one would figure that most if not all of the "L" plates had been used by then.A thousand pardons Sire.
@ Ludnuts, the Mustang that you have posted in your gear pix is definitely not a '65,absolutely not as a matter of fact, after all I've owned my '65 for almost 40 years and I know intimately what a '65 looks like. For starters the headstock is definitely not a '65.Please don't come back and say that the '65 neck broke and that the one that's on it is a replacement on a '65 body, which is something like you'd do if found out to be telling another one of your whoppers because the body, pickguard and other hardware isn't 60s vintage.I guess you didn't turn over a new leaf after all and you're right back to shovelling the excrement again. You've been found out again and don't belabor the fact as you usually do,because by trying to defend your lies you are making yourself look more ridiculous as you did with your Buddy Holly Strat and your "Stratacaster" that you swore up and down to be authentic.Of course then when it was proven beyond all doubt that it was another one of your poorly thought up lies you tried to save face by saying that it was a joke.We won't fall for it if you say that your '65 isn't the one in the pictures because we're so used to your lies and methods of weaseling your way out of them that we can read you like a cheap novel. You may be able to hoodwink the mods on the Gibson Forum but the people around here are used to your M.O. and are way more astute when dealing with your chronic mendacity.

My early '66 Strat (January neck date) had the Brazzy fretboard.

Back in 1965they did nit advertise necks as Brazilian or not at Fender. At the time you can bet it was a cost at time decision for wood purchases. Is the Mustang you waiting for a 24" Standard or the 22" scale?

I'm stumped too as to the origin of the rosewood,I imagine it would take someone who has worked with exotic woods for years to make an educated guess.

Congrats and Happy New Guitar Day!

That Mustang looks remarkably similar to the '64 Mustang I had back in the early 1990's...case and all!

Sweet find and congrats again...so how about a sound sample and more pics?
