Hi gang- thought some of you might be interested in seeing this. Though how much love you will produce towards it I don't know! 8)

Some of you know me as the weird bloke who keeps cropping up in build threads, infatuated AND in love with these projects. I find them entertaining, educational and a social glue, and I strongly support them happening on here. So you can imagine my raised eyebrows when discovering this new sorcery ;-D

It's apparently an app for iPad and iPhone, whereby it allows you to play a Ukulele by strumming the screen. Now that in itself is not a terribly new idea, however these guys pushed the boat out a bit and made a little gadgety holder thing which plugs into both iPad AND iPhone to give a rigid connection between the two: hey presto one has a neck touch screen area of the phone to form chords.

I much prefer going into a shop and paying some money for a neat little ukulele than poncing around the campfire with an iPad and iPhone, and I post this just to underline my orwellian fear of us all plucking at invisible strings in the distant future, where a FOXCONN worker can therefor claim to be a luthier.

Anyhow, here's what I'm rambling on about aimlessly. Enjoy!

Thoughts? Comments? I know you'll probably like the flower in her hair, but strumming a virtual Ukulele on a piece of kit as an iPad is probably the least hippie thing to do- then again I am sure it's exactly that generation who will now go "man that's groovy" ;-D

Anyhow. Live and let live. I prefer real instruments.

Cheers,

Nutter

Nutter, "Some of you know me as the weird bloke who keeps cropping up in build threads" is a smile Bro, but me doesn't think "weird" of you, although there are some weirdo's that hang here, I don't mean that in a bad way, I mean it in the best possible way possible, ok, forget I wrote that.
No, Nutter, after this link that you've posted I think of you more in the trippy hippie flower child kind of way, you know running through the fields of tall grass, you and your old lady going to a be-in or a love-in or some kind of trippy hippie peace and love kind of gathering-in sort of thing.
Alright, maybe that's a bit too much, how about you're just a cool guitar cat that happens to be a Fender Forum member as well. 8)
I think we need a pic of some sock's at this point.
Anyways, thanks for the link, neat invention but I don't think it will blow-up so to speak. And the lady in the video reminded me of my x-old lady from back in the day, same voice too, ahh, good time girl, I loved those hippie chicks, at every opportunity, lol.

@SolidBodyLoveSongs: Mate, that's dead on. Those who know me and my curly head of hair would probably agree with you. ;-)

And here's a cute little example of what makes a Ukulele "in the flesh" better than a virtual one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CAcIGmVM ... _embedded#!

Imaginetrying to pick and pluck all those notes without feeling any strings? Near to imoossible, I'd say.

Anyhow. I'm sure Sir Nevin is right when he estimates the price of this piece of kit. There might be some old artisan Uke from the twenties that's worth more, but I doubt an Apple-powered device would keep it's value quite as much as a vintage Ukulele ;-)

Off to dance among the flowers -

Nutter

 It reminds me of the digital screen fingernails in "Total Recall".
It seems that the future is already upon us.
...and yes, I do like the flower. A Hibiscus is it?
