4 of the 6 players from our old group has recently (this past Jan.) got back together. Unfortunately the keyboard player no longer plays live gigs and the steel/lead guitar player has moved away.
I have some recordings that we did back then for a demo that I would like to post. These were recorded in our own studio and our keyboard player did all the mixing.
If it works out I'll try posting a couple of other "oldies" and a "new" one that we recorded last month.
The new one is just us sitting in one of the guys living room practicing and it's a live recording, but it turned out pretty good considering we hadn't played the song together in over 15 years and it was only our 3rd or 4th go at it.
4 of us take turns with the lead vocals, drummer, lead guitarist, me and our front man rhythm/lead guitarist, so if everything works out I'll post one of each of us on the lead vocals. All of us also provide the backup vocals.
I'm using my '92 Jazz Plus V through a SansAmp to the board in the old recordings. Just in case I post the new recording, it's my CS Classic Jazz running direct out of my rig.

Here's our cover of Queen Of Memphis that we recorded somewhere around '92 or '93 for the demo I mentioned earlier.
Our lead guitar player has the lead vocals on this one.

So what do yall think? Did I do it right?

Just thought I would post all the links scattered in this thread here.

It's a tasty tune -- tightly arranged and credibly mixed. The pedal steel sounds great overlaid with the lead guitar track.

I'd say you "got it right", IMO.

Rawk on!

Thanks.
We're just an average bar/club band that plays local dances. Back in the day we did all right, made a decent splash in our little pond.
We miss the steel and keyboards, but what's left of us still do alright. After we get things going we'll see about adding a keyboard player. We have our first gig the 17th of this month. Can't wait.

I guess I'll add the other songs. I think I'll post the song I do the lead vocals on next. An old Tracy Lawrence song called Alibi's.

Thanks again for your comments. I appreciate 'em. :D

Here's the one I do the lead vocals.

One more that show how tight the band was. On this one our front man sings the lead.

Alright, here's the one we recorded last month. This is the same guys that are on the other recordings minus the keyboards and steel.
As I mentioned before, this is not a studio mix. The drummer sings lead on this one. It's not his best, but it has been a few years since he had done the song and he wasn't too sure of himself. He is much better than this.
We will get tighter, actually already are since this recording is a month old. Anyway, here it is.

I know they're not the best and I know our band isn't either. I just wanted to give you guys an idea of "who" I am.
So I hope you guys have enjoyed these clips and don't be afraid to let me know what you think.

grho50, your band is in the country pocket, a pretty good place to be nowadays, coincidentally I have been asked if I am interested in auditioning for a country band and I said to the singer "run it by the other members and let me know". I haven't played rhythm guitar in awhile but I like country music. Thanks for posting the songs, Y'all sound great, keep up the good rockin'. 8)

Solid Body Love Songs & SKcoppertele, thanks for the compliments. We do try.

We do other types of songs, a little Mowtown such as My Girl and When A Man Loves A Woman.
Classic rock such as, Sweet Home & You Shook Me (All Night Long).
A few of the 50's rock like Great Balls Of Fire & Twistin' The Night Away.
Top 40 country is our main stream. Has to be to get booked around here. As Skcoppertele said, alot of it isn't all that great, so we pick the ones we're comfortable with. This is what we have been working on the most these past couple of months. Of course we do our share of the older country. Even some Haggard.

We work at the music and do it to the best of our ability, but most importantly we have fun. We do like to get the crowd involved, whether they want to or not!

Good rhythm players are hard to come by. It's not as easy as most seem to think. As a bass player I really appreciate a good rhythm player.

Good luck with the country band. If you get with the right guys it can be alot of fun no matter what type of music you play.

Good clip. Thanks for sharing it.

Just remembered something about that first clip I posted, Queen Of Memphis.
The little bass run I do in the middle of the second verse, well it's actually a guitar fill lick. Our lead player is singing the song and the lick starts with the last word of the previous line and ends with the first word of the next line. It was hard for him to sing and hit the fill lick. Our other guitar player is playing rhythm and it didn't sound right with him dropping the rhythm to play the lick. Not a problem to fix in the studio, but playing live would be a different story. So I said what heck, I'll do it.
I thought it worked out pretty good. Probably the only time I ever played a fill lick on bass. :D
