After hitting so many brick walls and getting so many run-arounds,this morning I went to Reid Music and ordered the Tech21 RotoChoir.Even though I had to pay extra to get a one-off order from the Cdn. distributor I didn't care because of all the frustration I had placing orders, especially with GC and even Tech21 themselves.Anyway I'll soon have real delicious Jimi-like tones coming from my Marshalls and Strats. The Star Spangled Banner should be deadly with that lovely little rig,as well as Angel,Little Wing,Hey Baby(New Rising Sun) and especially Machine Gun-I'm like a kid waiting for Christmas.I'll have to see if Blinkers would be so kind as to help me do a hands on demo of the rig -that is if my mitts don't atrophy any further.

BTW when I got back home from placing my order and paying for it,there was an email from Tech21 telling me that I could go ahead and place my order-after wasting over 2 hrs. on the weekend.Anyway it's done now and I won't have to lug around the old Leslie when/if I get gigging again-that'll save on the back and mitts and ticker.I'm going to send Tech21 an email anyway to tell them that I found their ordering process very frustrating and futile.

hi guitslinger , it sounds like a cool pedal mate , can't wait to hear how it sounds and what you think of it , i plan on getting one of the fulltone vibe pedals in the near future but i'll wait and hear what you think of your new pedal , but seeing as i'm in rory gallagher mode at the moment i'm in no hurry  . My nephew was round yesterday to show me his new guitar , an epi invader , so i done a set up and set pup hights ect for him and plugged him into the jcm800 (you can picture the big grin on his face  ) and showed him some parts of hendrix songs he was stuck at , after an hour or so he had foxy lady , purple haze and the wind cries mary down to a not bad standard for a 14 year old , i need to work on his strumming so i suggested dolly dagger 8) he got the hang of the intro but just wasn't getting the feel for the verse chops , we'll work on that though  . it was his father i got the mij 57 reis from and he keeps going on about strats , so i told him i would sort up the partscaster i made last year for him , it's got mij pups , a wilkinson big steel block bridge and a danish oiled neck , i just can't get on with the body so he's as well having it  and it should inspire his hendrix playing a good bit i hope , cheers ,
Alan

Well, if you don't want to lug that Leslie, I'll lug it for you  I really enjoy the spacey sound they offer.

I'd be interested in your feedback on the Tech21 also...that leslie sound is so hard to beat though but I guess a good Uni-Vibe also has it's place.

My Vox AD120VTH has incredible Leslie and Uni-Vibe models in it but since the head is about 30-40 lbs and the 4-12 BN cab is over 90 lbs, lugging that too doesn't sound like a lot of fun either.Anyone looking for a combo with great effects the AD120VTX with 2-12s is a great option especially with the VC12 Footcontroller, you can program the sounds that you want for each sng you'd play through 4 sets and still have lots of programs left plus you have the same Leslie and Uni-Vibe tones.

I'll be providing lots of info about the Roto Choir when it comes and if I can get the old paws to co-operate in any way I may try and post a demo.

Well, at least once, could you plug that pedal into the Leslie and make like a double Leslie?

^^^^^That will certainly be tried, along with going through the Vox AD120 set on "Rotary" and through 2 flangers and the Ibanez DM 1000 digital delay to really nail the Jimi "House Burning Down/Gypsy Eyes" effect.I just can't wait to try it on The Star Spangled Banner and see if the Leslie sounds better than the Uni-Vibe.Cheers.

Say the word bother and I'll be there. I still have that Bacchus Classic strat that needs to be put through it's paces in your basement. :D

That's great monsieur Blinkers, you can drop down with the Strat any time at all.I don't know where I'd find the room to set up the stack with the pedals and get a clear view of it without the background looking like Dresden after the Allied firebombing. The rec room is looking more like a wreck room these days.It would be virtually impossible to drag the stack or the big Vox up to the living room and they are the best amps to play a bit of Hendrix on even though the JCM 800 1-12 combo can do a reasonable facsimile you really need a stack so that you can stand with the speakers at the same level as the guitar so you can get proper feedback and be able to control it.For The Star Spangled Banner getting the feedback in the same key or an octave or two above the note you're playing,is imperative so standing right in front of the speakers is really necessary.I'm really like a kid waiting for Christmas, you may drive by Reid Music some night and find me in the parking lot waiting for them to open in the A:M.I just hope that I can get my mitts to co-operate because lately my right hand is getting so bad that it's painful even to hold a fork or spoon most times....I wish that they'd hurry up and start pumping the Remicade in me-that shouldn't affect the Atrial Fibrilllation.I'm going to have to start phoning the cardiologist, rheumatoligist and dermatologist on Monday and rattle their collective cages.

May I offer a tip for some even more Jimi sounds? If you haven't done so yet, take your pick ups and flip them around, this will give you a hotter D and a smoother B string.

Hi Borrox24,there's no need for me to flip the pups as I use a lefty Strat strung righty for Hendrix covers.I don't do this for aesthetics but because it's an absolute necessity for doing some of his songs such as Machine Gun in particular. There are parts of the song where while doing hammer-ons with your right hand you have to manipulate the vibrato arm with your right forearm. The part where it's really needed is the "air raid siren" part where Buddy and Billy do the harmonies while Jimi does the hammer-ons and works the vibrato arm. It's very difficult to describe how it's done, you almost need to take a video of it to show how it's done and it's even more difficult to do.Of all of Jimi's little bag of tricks this is by far the most intricate and is incredibly difficult to do.I believe that the reason that Jimi didn't use a lefty Strat even when he could well afford one was because with the controls on top he could switch pups while doing a riff without missing a note, again while using his forearm as he picked.
