Hello. I recently purchased a vintage 66' Coronado II. It was a hollow body that Fender conceived in 1965. It was released in 1966. What makes mine unique is the toggle switch is by the volume and tone nobs whereas in most pictures; almost all pictures I have found, the switch is in the bottom cutaway. Also the head stock only has the Fender logo on it. All other pictures have Fender Coronado II across the headstock. I can't find anyone who knows anything about these guitars at all. Is it a prototype, special order, or what.

I've heard that with guitars that just say "Fender" on the headstock or "Fender, Corona, CA" are dealer/demo models for stores and people to place orders. I'm not sure on it though.

I removed the neck and the stamp on the base of the neck is 10jun66 6. The last 6 is kinda faded but the rest is clear. The bottom side of the pickups are stamped jun 7 1966 as well.

A Fender Coronado has been my Holy Grail of sorts for several years now. They were plentiful when I didn't have any money, and now that I have a job I can't find one for near where the prices used to be. So anyway, along the way I've acquired a somewhat decent knowledge of them. If you could post pictures that would be helpful though. I've never heard of one that didn't say Fender on the headstock that wasn't refinished. That's not to say it's impossible though. I'm curious to hear everyone's take on it. :)

It only says Fender. Most other pictures I have found have Fender Coronado II across the bottom of the whole headstock. I did find an article in an old Fender Facts leaflet from 1965 when Fender was announcing the release of the Coronado I and II. In the picture, the guitar shown was just like mine. The headstock and the toggle switch location seems to have been changed early in production, I just can't find anyone who can confirm this .

Can't seem to be able to post the pictures. Any ideas? I would love for others to see it.

I recommend you use Imgur, it doesn't require an acc, and it has multi-upload. Just click the select image button again.
