Hey everybody,
I've been dying to modify my 2h guitar (1 tone, 1 vol) with individual on/off switches (maybe with reverse phase) for each coil (four in all). Has anybody done such a mod, or a similar one (e.g. individual on/off/phase for a strat)? How would you go about it? Individual circuit for each pickup? All coils on a single parallel circuit? Series? I have absolutely no idea how this would be done to get normal sounds from the guitar.... :?
Any help appreciated!
Thanks! :)

Brother, you're all over the place on this one! What EXACTLY are you planning to do? Based on some of your questions and with all due respect, I'm not sure you even fully understand what you are asking?

Essentially, I want an on/off switch for each coil, kind of like a coil tap and killswitch (only in reverse, a life switch i guess :P) in one. I am trying to understand if this should be accomplished by putting all of the pickups in a parallel circuit, in a series, or if there is a way to put each coil on a separate circuit.

This is the same concept as Brian May's guitar, which I realized had the same switching system I'd imagined while watching him solo.

If you can get it working, then you're going to have a comprehensive range of sound selections.

Unfortunately, one of these will be "All Off", not what you need when you want to come crashing in with your first power chord.. "oh bugger.." :x

Not to mention Fender's own Elite Stratocaster:

Brian's Red Special has more possibilities because it offers on/off/out-of-phase options. But the very neatest, most versatile wiring harness I've ever seen for this stuff was invented by none other than our own Forum brothers, Chet and Redmax Feathers. If Chet looks in he may or may not feel like sharing his knowledge. It's an amazingly cool circuit...

Cheers - C
