I recently was listening to some of my pops old school stuff and came across some Ritchie Valens stuff. I started listening for fun and then it hit me wow the tone is classic! It was hard to not block everything else out and only focus on the guitar. Any one know what he used? I know everyone knows his popular La Bamba song but beyond that i just dare anyome if you havent already just listen to these old records.or remastered cd's and guess what hes using. My heart and ears telling me no doubt that it was fender gear, but it hard to get lost in it. Now im not old school just rediscovering all this but for the 50's i had no idea they would slightly over drive the amps like the intro to "little girl" and "oh my head" but what threw me for a loop was the song "in a turkish town" where the lead guitar is played with a vibrato effect. Some. Now im not going to spend hard earn cash to replicate this tone in my room. I just think it sounds cool.

Wow not to question the judgment of the video but i cant believe thet showcased the guitar through a vox, i like vox but i would have loved them to dust off an old champ or something.

Bridge pickup of a 50's style Stratocaster->analog delay->low wattage tube amp set right below constant breakup/overdrive (only overdrives when you hit it hard enough)=50's rock tone.
