I went to the M.F. Canadian site to order a Tech21NYC RotoChoir and everything was going OK until I tried to go to the checkout. No matter what I tried they would reject my order,I have dealt with many US companies in the past and never encountered anything like this.I went on the Long &McQuade site-which is Canadian and they had none in stock here and with the problems some people I know ordering out of stock items from them here,I'm very reluctant to deal with them.I guess I'll end up going to my old reliable Mom and Pop store Reid Music in Mt. Pearl,as I should have in the first place-most likely they'd undersell all the rest anyway.L&M wanted $229 and MF wanted $219.I sent MF an email so at least I should get a reason why my order was rejected.BTW can anyone south of the border suggest a dealer who does hastle-free shipping to Canada and isn't part of the MF-GC empire? Thanks.

I believe that it was them that I tried to order from before but they don't ship to Canada either-at least back then they didn't-but no harm in trying again thanks.

Do you have ZZounds available to you in Canada? I usually order from them and have never experionced a problem. Free shiping is about 7 to 10 days. There 3 day end's up being about 7 days because of a weekend being in there some where. The overnight costs $20. extra so unless I'm in a big hurry I pass on that one. 8)

----Danny,

Just my two cents but ZZounds refused to let me return a defective Taylor 214CE unless I paid for shipping. Their customer service rep was quite rude about it... This was last April and I have not bought from them again.

I've never tried to return anything, that's good to know.

While MF does have a "Canadian" site, the won't/can't ship many of their products to us. You can get almost all the way through checkout process only to find you can't get the item. I think beside the ad it will say "Ships to Canada". If it doesn't say that, you are out of luck. Fender guitars are one example. They have a standing order with most US retailers that they cannot ship new guitars to Canadian customers (presumably so they don't piss off their Canadian distribs like L&M). Good luck!

What I found maddening last night was that they had a statement on their Canadian page that they shipped to Canada and that items over a certain price were shipped free. They haven't responded to my email yet and other companies that I have dealt with in the US replied to emails promptly. This morning I went to Reid music and talked to my friend Jr. Reid the owner and he took all the info and was going to contact Tech21 this afternoon to get the lowdown on prices etc.Long and McQuade wants $229 which isn't bad compared to MF who charge $219 for it.Reid's had a Boss rotary speaker simulator for about $240 but I'm not that familiar with their products and have never used any so I don't know how dependable they are or the quality of the sound reproduction. The RotoChoir has won an international award for technical excellence and innovation so that's a feather in its cap plus I watched the demo and the sound quality and performance is identical to the real thing.

I have experienced this as well. Since L&M basically has a monopoly now, they also have several exclusive distribution contracts such as Gibson. They can basically dictate to the companies the terms of agreements under which they are provided with gear to sell.

Best hope is that Best Buy starts selling instruments at all rather than just some of thier stores thus providing actual competition. You can also check bestbuy.ca for stuff but what they have online is pretty limited.

L&M used to be a pretty good company to deal with, now they are ok, but some competition would help a lot.

I have found that Reid Music routinely undercuts L&M,when I was looking for a 50th An. Strat,L&M wanted $1,700 + tax even though they knew me well and I went to school with the manager/franchise owner and Reid Music sold me one for just over $1,600 taxes in. The same thing happened when I bought my 1965 John Lennon Casino,J.L. EJ-160-E and natural Casino.I got them all for much less than L&M wanted despite the fact that L&M is the distributor of Gibson/Epi products.Anyway I'd rather see my money stay here in the province rather than end up in the pocket of some fat cat share holder in Toronto or Calgary.

Thanks very, very much ABS,your offfer is much appreciated,I'm going to Reid Music on Monday and see what's what with them first, plus I was in contact with the folks at Tech21 and they may be able to arrange something too.Either way I'm bound and determined to get the Roto Choir as the old back Can't handle lifting the old Leslie plus now with the old ticker giving me grief anything that's either bit heavy will have to be lifted by someone younger and in better shape than I.I guess now,not being allowed to lift anything heavy, I'll have to sit down to pee.LOL.

I found it best to actually call the toll free number, in some cases.
