That was my point earlier when I said Gibson didn't have to be more labor intensive. Today's CNC technology could crank them out faster and cheaper.

Bottom line - If you want high tech, you want Fender. To me, part of the brilliance and mystique, however, lies in the fact that one would never imagine that the Fender strat was produced in this manor!

For the cost of a Les Paul standard you can get a MIM or USA Strat/Tele with a pretty smoking amp and effects if you work the deal properly. Gibsons are cool but man the expense in obtaining one.

Highway One Strat: $500
Bassman RI: $1200

That's $1700 and there's still $500 left for effects if you're comparing to a LP standard at $2200.

One guitar or nice guitar, great amp, cool fx?

For example:
USA Standard Strat: 1000.00
Fender 65 twin reverb:1200.00
FX: Wah pedal, phase 90.
Fender pkg: 2290.00 without tax.

Gibson Les Paul Standard: 2300.00 without tax.
No matter what combination, with Fender you get more bang for your buck.

From what I understand several years ago Gibson was having a hard time competing. The got a new CEO that said well sell them but those that want them are going to pay for them and will cut back production. It worked. Jacked up the price and those that really want one will pay the price.

Gibsons cost a lot because they do moronic stuff like make a Kiefer Sutherland Signature model. Did Kiefer pay for the research, development, and prototyping of that instrument? Most likely not, so those expenes were passed along to the consumer.

Does any one else feel the love bowl freshner has for Keifer!! LMAO THat is really to stupidist thing ever, and then to look and see people like Slash and Nancy Wilson playing Epiphone's i guess they cant afford Gibson's either!!!

I guess my feeling is why do i want to tie an anchor to my chest and sound clunky?? I dont, for me it is Fender or Nothing when it comes to a solid body!! I have an ES 135 that plays and sounds great and i boutght it used worth the money.....never bought a new guitar
