The reason I called this thread such a weird title is the fact I don't want it to become a politicized discussion...it's just like the t-shirts say, "No Black, No White, Just Blues..."

Just listen to the jams, brothers and sisters, don't pay any attention to the controversial man sitting center stage in the audience...

...and can someone tell me why Buddy Guy doesn't get credit for inventing shredding?

...and has Mick Jagger ever been even a little bit heavy? Maybe even a tiny bit bloated? Dang, that man is skinny!

...and Mrs. Obama's mother looks at Mick like, "What is wrong with that man?"

Okay, rant over...for now. :P

Great show...I just finished watching it. I'd almost forgotten how good Buddy Guy can be...imho he is a far better singer than Mick Jagger. No slouch on the guitar either! His interplay with Jeff Beck was priceless.
cheers,
Alex

Buddy Guy is amazing. I remember the first time I saw him down in Austin at the old Antone's on Guadalupe street...I probably stood there looking like a doofus with my mouth open...what he did with a Guild, a Strat and a Bassman was incredible.

One of the greats, indeed.
I just read your post about going with your daughter to see BB King..very moving; I very much appreciated it. I saw how much he has aged in the PBS White House special, although his playing was good, all things considered. I never had the fortune to see Buddy Guy live, but I have seen BB King live on several occasions in the early 1970's. I was always impressed with his professionalism as well as his musical ability. He always had a tremendous backing band. The last time I saw him, I was front row centre at Massey Hall in Toronto and came away with a BB King guitar pick, which I still have, tho' I'm not sure if I can tell it apart from my others! Your daughter is very fortunate to have such good memories of the concert.
cheers,
Alex

A fine show.
A lot of Fender amps lined up there, and one Marshall.
I thought I saw George Washington's hair turn white when the Brit's took the stage in the White House to perform the blues.
They were all good but the ones left me wanting more were Warren/Susan/Derek.
Gary Clark, Jr. and Shemikia Copeland mean there's going to be some great blues for years to come.

Yeah buddy, I cought this last night. It was a fun little thing. Everytime I see Jeff Beck, I'm in awe...how does he do that wierd trill thing?!?!?!? It was cool to see Gary Clarke Jr. and Keb Mo, I cought this movie called The HoneyDripper with them in it, awesome film! I especially giggled when Gary jr was playing catfish blues, and they cought Obama singing along. But seriously, how does Jeff Beck do that?

Great gig. Highlights for me were Buddy Guy and Jeff Beck. Seemed like Mick forgot the words to "Can't Turn You Loose" a couple times. Everyone else handled their business but his first two songs were a bit of a train wreck. (Love the guy but he didn't seem to be at his best on those first two bits).
