Hi all,

I thinking of selling my USA Telecaster and was wondering how much do people think it might be worth. It's a 2005 edition and I believe (though cannot be certain) thats it's a limited edition colour as when I bought it it was £100 more than the other Telecasters on sale. It's in mint condition with not a scratch on it.

I always wanted a telecaster but never quite liked it when I plugged it in.

Send it to me for inspection. I'll keep it for a loooooong time to make sure every detail on the guitar is correct.

Are you sure you wouldn't rather modify the things you don't like about it? I have 2 Tele copies that sound drastically different. One has a Fender alnico 3 set in it, the other has a Seymour Duncan lil' 59 and Blacktop humbucker in it. The latter has a lot of output and sounds ballsy compared to the A-3 setup. Just took a new pickguard and pickups (and cap, just cause I wanted to.)

Welcome to the Forum Jimmy1982. If you are a professional guitarist with some best selling albums on the charts and a solid reputation as a player, your Telecaster is priceless and you can sell it for a small fortune probably. If you're a regular guitarist like everyone here then what ever the going price for that model is what you can expect. Enjoy your stay, there are many knowledgeable guitar guru's here.

If you're lucky, about 2/3 of what you paid for it.

What I don't understand is why people don't go on ebay and see about what the price is going for..... they even have a calculator and you type in what you are selling and it spits out the average price sold on ebay...... wouldn't make more sense to see what people are actually selling them for rather than a ballpark estimate???

And it's not a limited edition color, it's a sunburst and now Fender charges more for those....

They charge more for 2-tone sunburst.
3-tone sunburst is a standard color.

Here in Australia, they charge you more regardless of the type of sunburst.

I have checked e-bay but that only tells you what people actually want for the guitar. What I wanted to know if there's anyway of getting a valuation. I have a Gibson J45 and I know 2nd hand I'd be looking at around £1200.

What people want to pay for it IS what it's worth, book values don't mean s*** if nobody is going to pay that much.

You can check finished auctions on eBay and usually find at least a few examples that did sell, especially if you are looking at mainstream guitars like Strats or Teles. I generally search live auctions first, then go deeper and check prices of what actually sold.
