Hi im gonna get my 3rd fender guitar and 2nd electric guitar to go with my standard MIM strat in arctic white but i cant decide. my limit is 360 pounds and i could push that a little bit. i was thinking of the Marauder, MIM Tele, Another Strat (HSS), blacktop jaguar or mabye even something else. I can fall in love with any strat. i like the tele but ive never properly played one but im planning on it and i prefer to have a mexican than chinese guitar.
I played the blacktop jag but it didnt feel like a regular jaguar so im not too keen on it, i just idolize kurt cobain even though he sucked at guitar. i played the marauder and it sounded really nice and felt like i was playing a usa guitar but im not too sure, so its pretty much between the tele or the marauder. another strat i wouldnt mind but i dont know if theres any point even if its hss seeing as i have one already but sss. if you can suggest anything else that is only fender and no gibson or epiphone terrible guitars like that then please help, i like people deciding for me thanks.

I would say since you have a Strat (I'm assuming SSS), you might want to go with a humbucker equipped guitar just in case you want something beefy at some point. Personally, it would be a Blacktop Tele if it were me. Jags are cool too, but I'm not cool with where the switch placement is. If you strum with a wide down stroke, it can be a problem. I also find the 24" scale to be a little short for my taste.

It's too bad there seems to be a stigma about Chinese made guitars these days. I find that they are being more careful with their necks than the MIMs I've tried recently. Almost all of the MIMs I tried out felt like they were gonna cut my hands due to sharp edges on the frets.

I also think it's too bad that some people feel Epiphone isn't up to par with just about any mid level guitar these days. If I get another guitar this year, I'm seriously looking at the Epiphone ES-339. There were 2 of them at our Sam Ash, and they were gone in 1-day. Really cool guitars.

It was a lot of fun to pick it up and test it out. It has a smaller body than other hollow-bodies, and felt very smooth to play.

Go to a few shops play a few and see what you like. If you want someone else to make a decision for you just ask the sales person in the shop.

Why is someone else's opinion better than yours? You are the person who is going to be spending hours playing the guitar so maybe you should buy the one that you really like, and if nothing grabs you then leave it for a while and buy at a later date when you have more money and then you'll have more choices too.

I know you said you don't want Chinese. But I tried out lots of guitars in your price range and settled for the Squier Classic Vibe 60's model, incredible for the price and personally I couldn't justify spending that extra on a Fender just for the name on the headstock. Obviously had I had more like £800 plus to spend I would have felt slightly different!

At least give them a go before you write them off!

jake100xx, this solid body electric guitar comes in 3 different finishes. I like it because it has P-90's for pup's. Hope it is within your price range:Image Welcome to the Forum.

You can't go wrong with the Marauder, if you can find one right now.

I know it's hard to look at Chinese made instruments as solid well made instruments but I have owned two Chinese made guitars. One was a Squier and now my Fender acoustic. The Squier was very well made, the neck was great and the fretwork was nice with no sharp edges. My acoustic also feels like a very solid guitar. Can't go wrong especially for the price.

Bid on a vintage Music Master on eBay. They rarely go over $600 USD for a decent used one. The only way I could see paying more is if it were pristine, literally unplayed. Just go for a lucky bid.

The high-end Squiers are very good guitars ... often only a change of pickups away from being everything you need. I have one, too, and I only changed pickups.

How about the fender classic series? I don't know the price in the US, but in Norway they are major bang for the bucks..

I was perusing a couple of Squier Teles at my local music store-'72 Custom and Thinline reissues. These little darlings are simply great guitars and are well within your price range aand every Strat owner has to have a Tele-I believe that it's the law in most countries-lol.

They're high quality guitars, but run about $700 new. Or you can do like I did and find a nice used one.

This part of your question is ridiculous ( Gibson or Epiphone terrible guitars  ) If you know guitars you would not say that. With all the Fenders I have I would not go with out my Les Pauls and Dots. And Yes you need a Telecaster, I have two of them as well and the American Tele gets a lot more play then the Strats do.
