Minor mods - Replacing nut locks with string trees, adding strap locks, that kind of thing.

Other than a new set of strings every now and then, that's about the only mods that I think that my Fenders need.

I have one that has been tricked out so much that only
the wood is stock. A few have remained all stock though.

I have one Strat out of several that I designated as my mod Strat which generally consist of pickup and pickguard mods. I will load a new pickguard with a different combination of pickups and just change out the whole thing. Screamin Armadillo inspired me to plan the next mod that will include Strat style P90s on a black guard. :)

I inspired somebody?
I've modded both my Tele and my Strat to better suit my needs...I don't think Leo was purposely trying to make it this way, but his designs just lend themselves to some tinkering...

That's just another reason Fender guitars are so popular. All these posts of what you and others have done, inspire and encourage others to re-create.

If I had an American Strat, I'd likely have left it alone and let it appreciate as mods generally hurt value. But alas, all my American guitars are Gibsons ... But for my Mexican Strat, I did this and it really transformed it into something special:
- Better saddles
- TexMex pickups
- Bigger tremblock
- New pickguard

My USA strat has some basic mods; bridge and aftermarket neck pup. My Gibson is all mods but the wood, frets, bridge-stop bar, and selector switch.

My Jazz Bass has a push-pull pot for series/parallel fun, as well as a Leo Quan Badass II Bridge.
I'm contemplating adding a kill switch to one of my teles, but was wondering what sort of a drill bit one would use on a control plate, any thoughts?

I thought you painted the hell out of your 60's strat.

Actually I'd use two bits, a small one to make a pilot hole so the larger drill bit would have stability and a course to follow.

Only Fender mods....

On my '78 Musicmaster bass I put in a SD Quarter Pounder pup to replace the original strat single coil that it came with.

And on my Montara acoustic, I replaced the pickup system for two reasons. One, the original "reach through the soundhole" design was a real pain. Two, the original system failed. The mod was done well and the original hole had to be lengthened to allow a new pickup system with a battery access door, much nicer. At the time of the pickup installation the luthier also put in a "bone" nut and saddle, replacing the original plastic pieces.

Nothing major but all of those things were great improvements.
