Anyone have experience with these? I ordered some for my blues Jr to replace stock sovteks. Is there much of a noticeable sound difference?

You might like them. It sounds like more Torres nonsense to me. I would still check the bias regardless of what Torres says.

Have you had issues with these particular tubes?

No, just issues with Torres in general. I wouldn't buy a resistor from them. I also have a problem with anyone telling people you don't need to check your bias when you use their tubes. Unless a tube amp is cathode biased, you need to at least check it. An amp that is not properly biased can either cook your tubes or sound like arse if it's too cold. Blues Jr's run notoriously hot.

Yeah I have heard some horror stories. Like a six month wait after a three week estimation. But it was after I ordered.

I couldn't agree more.. To a layman, which I most certainly am when it comes to biasing, this notion can be a dangerous game when it comes to your tube amp operating properly. Mesa has done a good job (in my opinion) as far as their product and it's relationship with their color coding system, the tubes they recommend, and their screening process. But when I was working with my Fender HRDV, things got a little tricky.

An average guitar player who doesn't know too much about how to make the adjustments (like myself) really should just take it in to a tech and have them evaluate what needs to be done concerning biasing. Although I'd watched a video of how to bias a Fender HRDV, the specs advised didn't really work with the tubes I was working with and it's relationship with my amp, I somehow was able to think about things and eventually get things right. Even so, I don't trust myself enough to be able to do it again with another set.

Unless an amp manufacturer specifically says " no bias needed" and offers the tubes to "plug and play", I would take caution.

Torres didn't back what they sold me.
Mesa has always done a great job with their amps designs. I would trust their system with their tubes too.

GT's, I've had nothing but lots of problems with them.
As far as biasing, it depends in the manufacturer. Egnater has bias point sockets that you plug your meter into. On some models they are external.

Biasing should always be done by a tech if you have no experience with electronics. It's cheap insurance.

The Blues Jr. doesn't have an adjustable bias pot, you need to change a resistor. Billm has a kit to install an adjustable bias pot.

Back to the OP, I didn't have a good experience with Torres, you might.
Personally, I'd go to www.eurotubes.com
You can pick up a whole set of JJ's tubes for $45-50. You don't need gold pin tubes, it's hype pure and simple so IMO skip the gold pin option.

So just to follow up, I FINALLY got the tubes in. I like the sound, more clean room, more touch sensitive but that was after they forgot about my order. I will not shop with Torres again.

Can't say we didn't warn you. Now just hope you don't need any customer service or replacements.

We all learn by our mistakes. There's a lot of great information and experience here on the forum. Don't ever hesitate to ask. You will probably get a hundred different responses, but you'll be able to sort out fact from fiction pretty easily.
