My post-rock inspired band Octafish (named after a captain beefheart song. its a dumb name. i like it) just finished our first album. Almost all the guitars are either a 90's Jag, a 90's Tele custom, or a 66 (or 68 i dont remember) Mustang. This band is composed of two people who meet very irregularly and infrequently and record as we write. Everything was recorded at my home. any feedback would be great, anybody listening at all would be great also. anyway, enjoy.

The first 10 songs are on the LP (cd's coming soon) and the rest are old songs of ours that we thought were good enough for the public to hear.

Love it, though at times the production sounds a bit thin. Post-rock is such an awesome genre 8)

Yeah the production at times isn't great. This project has taught me a lot about mixing distorted guitars. These songs were recorded over about a years time, so the newer songs sound way better than the old ones. The first song was like the very first thing we recorded for this project and the cymbals in that song drive me nuts...they're so damn loud.

sorry to bump this after this long, but just letting people know the CD's have arrived and the downloads are up if anybody wants. The link in my signature takes you to my main site, there's 2 bands on there. 'Octafish' is the post-rock-ish band, 'Jarvis Probes' is my solo project where I play all the instruments.

I just gave Monolith a listen and was quite impressed with it,the first part of the song is reminiscent of The Cure and the way that it suddenly "changes gears" and goes into a distorted mode really puts a cool spin on it.You've done a great job!!!I tip my hat to yoou both.

Hey thanks a lot for listening guitslinger. 'Monolith' was the first song we recorded for this album, I think its a little over a year and a half old at this point. My guitar player wrote the guitar part for the intro and i rerecorded it after i wrote the bassline. Your not too far off with you comment on the Cure. I was thinking a lot about Joy Division around the time that was recorded. Thanks for the feedback.
