Same in Switzerland, especially when the tree's condition is so obvious. Looks totally rotten, should have been taken down long ago.

Cheers

All I hope is that my living conditions get where they were before this accident.

I agree with Guitslinger RK despite his pun... :) The property owner next door should be liable for all your damages. Your insurance company should pursue them for you as it would be in their own interest to do so. If not I'd lawyer up... glad that you and your loved ones are safe.

I'll go out on a limb and say that the people who own the neighbouring property are liable for all your damages.

Certain of it. (Out on a limb? I'd say you've got to the root of the matter.)

I'm in a position to absolutely confirm this. I have a lot of trees and the professional insurance-company-rated work involved in keeping them safe and legal provides me with plenty of fairly expensive firewood...

By the look of that tree it has been ready to drop for a lo-o-o-o-o-ong time. Not good. Are you well insured? How do you get on with your neighbor?

The lot next door is vaccant owned by a corporation, so don't really know them. There are 5 other trees ready to drop from that lot as well. We are decently insured, but have a bit of a deductable to meet. Just one crazy weekend.

The moment your insurance company starts talking to theirs I bet you see a guy round with a chainsaw taking care of those other unsafe trees. We can see one of them currently still standing in one of your photos.

If that corporation has any sense of decency, not to mention PR, they'll cover your insurance excess. If not, and if they dust up troublesome, then thank goodness you have your insurance company to fight that battle for you and you won't need to get involved. Well, well worth the price.

Hope things get back to normal soon - C

My Fender Avalon was on the wall in the living room when the roof came in. Once the wife and dog were checked over, I quickly moved it somewhere safe. All my other gear is elsewhere in the house, so no damage to them. Looked over the Avalon in the preceeding morning and played it. No damage and plays like always.
