Not only did I spend over $2000 on a new wedding ring set for the wife,(she lost the diamond out of the old one)but now I try to make myself feel better by getting a new amp($650)and about $600 in new pedals. And didn't tell her about any of it. God I better sleep in the garage tonight!!!!!!!!!

Oh hell, we will both enjoy what we got, if she doesn't find out the costs....or I got something too....

lol, you carry on making yourself feel better.
Though I would recommend getting a softer and warmer bed in the garage!

From the title of this thread, I thought you were having one of two problems:

Either you were having issues playing "F" chords and scales, or you were having issues with...

Would it make you feel better if you bought something for me?

Buying new toys, I am told, can be a sign of depression... especially if there is rationalization involved, i.e. she got something new, I need something new. And the fact that you bought new gear and she doesn't know it... uh-oh. It might be time to talk with someone besides the other sickies on this Forum, present company included.

Send it to me for safekeeping. When you want it, PM me here and I'll leave it in a package next to the mail drop box on the corner of Electric Avenue.

I Think you should come up to equal value or better. Maybe a new guitar, and then you would feel vindicated.

Maybe it is depression, winter is never any fun in Upstate NY, can't get out of the house much(cabin fever)so all I can really do is play guitar and look for that "tone" we all search for. Depressing part being spring is around the corner and work will pick up too soon, and that means months without really being able to play much.

I say, you are a good man.
Buying your wife a nice ring set...I'm sure she was delighted, right?
So you got yourself some new gear (of lesser value)...cool.
Rock the house.

Saw a post some time ago (can't remember if it was on here) with a sign-off line something like: 'When I die, I hope to God my wife doesn't sell my guitars for what I told her I paid for them.'

Hmm, think I know where he was coming from...

Just as long as you don't default on your mortgage and ask the taxpayers (me and the rest of us) to bail you out, Im ok with it...

What is this, "...tell her about new gear you bought," concept of which you speak?

...never heard of it.

Hi newwt: if you've got a f_ing problem then it so happens I get the occasional email that manages to slip through my spam filter offering to help with exactly that issue. I'd be happy to forward them to you if it would be useful?

Cheers - C

Ahhhhhh..... She knows about the pedals now,, she signed for them. As far as the amp goes, she told me to order it.

Silly boy! How did she end up signing for your pedals? I have a confirmed shipping address so that all of my goodies end up at work, dropped off usually by UPS or FedEx and signed for by me or a trusted co-worker. Nothing goes to my house - think I want a new guitar sitting on the front porch while traffic goes buzzing by? Think I want my wife to sign for my latest purchase? Silly, silly boy!
